Zonkelnut made me think of this idea (thanx man). Lets post the sites (urls) where you get your d/s info from. Please post the URL, BUT tell us what you can expect on the site and why its good. As with all things in live expect to be tjirped if the site is not up to scratch. I'll ask funacide to build a more 'formal' links section. Our idea with this forum never was to pretend to know everything. We would like to serve as 'hub' for local ride planning, chats, ride reports, products, etc etc. If we can expand this to include links to sites with specific, bike-related knowledge - everyone will be better served.
Again thanx for the idea Zonkelnut :hello1: dink
So herewith
www.klr650.net - a bb forum US based with the most KLR knowledge at one location. Helpful people - post a question and they will answer. Glenn runs the forum and is well acquainted with SA and this forum.
http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/ - Fred at Arrowhead. He stocks aftermarket parts and accessories for KLRs and XRs. I've bought from him before - his service is fast and prices are fair - good guy. You can get your KLR's doohickey from him.

Has anyone ever noticed how many overseas sites (the .COM's .NET's .DE .CH etc.) and how few local (.ZA) sites there are ?
So far WD is the best local (.ZA) site I have found on the subject.
Me, Myself and I have just started a NEW site: www.Detours.co.za , which is a DIY tour / trip information website. It is still in its crawling stage and just waiting to be used by people who have done it and want a place to post their reports and for people who want to do it and get their information (not much of that yet) on "off the beten track" places right here in this GRRRR8 ol' RSA of ours (as well as the neighbouring countries).
I will also do an in depth report on: www.SilverWolf.co.za/lifetour about our trip through Namibia (which is to start in October 2007) about places to see places to stay, places bikes are not allowed in etc. as there is not much available on these subjects in particular for DS adventurers.
Hope to get some input from Ya all.
This is your personal invitation. Use it, don't use it. They are there for that purpose.

Thanks Lupo
site will offer great advice and tips

Over in the OZ Section of ADVrider I started a Navigation and Survival thread.
As so many of the blokes seemed to be clueless about how to use a compass or navigate in the bush using landmarks etc.
I listed a great SAS survival handbook and also a link to the free US Army Survival Guide.
Some of the other chaps have also posted up some good solid info about camping and finding water and such like.
Feel free to read and take away any information you okes feel is useful for RSA and Africa generally.
Also feel free to add your own Nav and Surv recommendations.
Or start your own thread at WD's if you think it's a good subject.
Here is the ADVrider link...
