Title: 690 Economical
Post by: LONG BOB on April 03, 2012, 03:20:02 pm
I got 245 km before the reserve light came on. Then set my trip and did 57 km on reserve. (she died) Then opened the extra tanks, did a total of 443km and reserve light came on again .This was done on all different types of roads and rode normally( a little more aggressively on dirt ).
So at least i know how far a tank will get now. Total fuel was 20.3l

LB has fitted Rally-Raid tanks, hence the range! ;)

Well if J Dog only gets 190 on his 690 then so do I, no seriously that kit must help with airodynamics, as I get 200 if I ride like a soft cock , last ride I did I got 178 and the light was on , but at least I know what I can get on reserve now , having said that I did find out last night that my map was on 8 so not sure if that will make a diffrence .

I tested mine on all 3 settings and didn't notice much of a difference either way

I got 210 km on my first tank before light came on. Did another 30 km then filled up. Took 10.5l. But still riding gently and stop/start in town.
Very happy with that kind of consumption.

On average my reserve light come on on about 190 km

Has someone fitted a SE tank on the 690?. I read on Adv rider that some guys managed to fit it, but seems to be a bit of a problem to do so.

My first tank and I got 204 km's when the light came on , filled up and put in 9.8 liters that equates to roughly 20.8 km/l . the bike is new now only just over 300km's on the odometer so I am guessing the motor is abit tight. I am trying really had to stick to the not over 5000 rpm for the first 500km's but it is not easy.

The only bike I can compare it to is my BMW X Challenge where I would average between 27 to 30 km's per liter. this bike seems thirsty and I have not even given its ear a proper tug yet.

Is this as good as it gets?
