Title: Greetings from Texas
Post by: mistercindy on April 13, 2006, 12:50:51 am
I got to this site from a post by bla bla black sheep in advriders.com.  I'm in McKinney, Texas which is a far north suburb of Dallas.  I've enjoyed the pics on this site as in 1984-85 I lived on Thyrwhitt Avenue in Roseback, Johannesburg across the street from the Rosebank Hotel.  Most of my riding in South Africa was off road, but if I were to do it all over again I'd do way more motorcycle touring.  South Africa, IMHO, is made for motorcycles.

Nice to be here, and I look forward to seeing your pics and stories.

And, BTW, what is a jekker...?

You're probably referring to a hi-jekker. We bikers normally don't worry about them 'coz you can't use a bike in a cash-in-transit heist.  :D

Can a Texan be called a Yankee? I thought they were confederate. Come to think of it...isn't Atlanta also in the Deep South?

but then...what the hell do I know about US history/geography anyway

Ya, Georgia is a lot more confederate than Texas.  Texas wants to be their own country.   :D

I made the mistake of calling my in-laws family yanks.  "We are not yanks, we are southern"      Yankees are a very small section of the country (part of the north east)

I was just saying it for you okes.

Not really.  My wife's name is Cindy.  She's a teacher and, in good southern tradition she's often called Ms. Cindy by her students.  One day I show up to where she works and some little kid looked at me and called me Mr. Cindy.  It stuck at the school, and I thought it'd make for a decent forum type name.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

An '05 R1200GS.  I've had it since October and have put 6,000 miles on it.  Its a great bike.  My modifications to date:

- installed an Aeroflow screen and love it
- Sargent saddle on order

Planned mod is a better low and high beam light.

Must admit, generally not on my list, the light thing, I avoid nightime riding when I can, too many issues in" Africa" crime, drunks and donkeys etc not to mention Lions1

They are all fucken ignorant china. I know, I had an amerikkkan wife, and a few g-friends! They are so conditioned , they can NOT see any other way of life. They believe they are "free' and "brave" Driving to the fucken strip mall without getting a flat is considered heroic in this land!!!
History will tell - 50 years from now!!
My friends died because your turn is your turn, not "for freedom".  And no flags were waved. The twassholes on TV though, splabbed the same.
Let that be a lesson to yer young man.
