Ride Reports / Re: Living the Dream Solo Around the World Trip
« on: January 11, 2018, 09:46:43 pm »
Hi Guys just an update on what's happening with the rest of my ARTW trip. It looks like I am going to translate the book in German. Then I would like to travel to Europe and start again where I left off. I will then sell the German book as well as the English version while traveling the whole of Europe. The lack of money as with so many of us was the only reason for the delay. This tread will come alive again when I am on the road again.

All best with the translation! And the rest of your journey. Looking forward to reading more about your travels  :thumleft:
Thanks my man

Hi Gene and Neda if you do decide to come to Johannesburg I do have a spare bedroom where you could stay for free. I also have a caravan park/camping where you can stay for free on a river just outside of Johannesburg. I would like to meet you as I am also going to continue on my around the world trip next year. So far I have done a trip through Africa to Egypt and back through 18 countries 33 000km. I also wrote a book see picture. I also did a trip in 2010 with my son to the Equator and back on another route past the big 4 lakes in Africa. I think we can exchange Ideas. Just PM me on when you think your going to be in Johannesburg and be my quest.

Great stuff and enjoy the quality time with your son.

You can leave your car and trailer right at the border in a secure area on the South African side. If the river is in flood you can take your bikes across on the cable car, one at a time. I know there is camping lower down the Limpopo. Lovely area for sand riding. What a lot of people do not know is that you can ride right through the Mashatu Game Reserve as long as you stick to the main gravel road. It is a servitude road.  Very technical at one uphill with a couple of dry river crossings on the way. Just watch out for very big herds of elephants up to 200 at a time.

rgds Gary aka Drac
Hi Gary welcome to the site. They will keep you busy for years to come. The  Horizon Unlimited site is there for more intercontinental travel. Even the Zapp family that have been traveling around the world for 17 years in their 1928 model Greame Page car use this site. Glad you enjoyed my book. You are a star my friend and you paid an extra R 50-00 towards my trip as well. Watch this space for the balance of the trip. Kind regards

Almal Yamahas by Jungle Junction.

Hi Orangeswifty  kan ek my boek weer daar kom verkoop ?
Dankie my maat.

Hi Ventana Thanks for buying my book. Also look under Ride Reports. I have revived an old thread of mine namely "Africa Tour to the Equator and back in 40 Days" On that trip my son and I travelled along the 4 big lakes. In the end we covered 13 000km with only 3 days not riding. It should give you a good indication of what to expect. I did it with the same bike than the one I travelled to Egypt and back, I only changed the colour from black to red.
