En ek is baie bly jy geniet my ou storietjies hier. :thumleft: :)

Maar ek kry 'n beklemming as ek dink ek moet hier weg.  Dan weet ek hoe voel 'n vol in 'n hok. Wie sal dit by my oorneem?

Ag, ek skryf nou sommer t veel dinge.

:thumleft:
Ai Johan ek voel ook so oor my lappie grond langs die Kliprivier net buite Johannesburg.

Right in short plans for Europe. Land in Frankfurt Germany Saturday 21/04/18. Sleep over at a fellow motorcyclist who traced my book through the internet. He stays 10 minutes away from the Airport by train (swapping my book in exchange for accommodation). Sunday it is off to Holland with a high speed train to where the bike is. Then I have to be in Belgium from the 27-29 April for the 60 th  Bernd Tesch motorcycle get together. Bernd has also been around the world by motor cycle. He is also the person that holds the most motorcycle travel books in the world, more than a 1000. He is 80 years old and have been arranging this meeting for the past 60 years now. People who would attend are people who have already travelled around the world and people who still want to travel around the world. After the 3 day meeting I will be following my nose through as many countries as possible through Europe visiting many people whom I met during my 2 trips through Africa. (2010 trip to the Equator and back 13 000 km and 2015 trip to Egypt and back 33 000 km. A highlight is going to be meeting up with The Zapp family again. They have been traveling around the world for 17 years in a 1928 Graham Paige car. All 4 of their kids were born in different countries on the way. They have done more than 250 000 km by now. We met the night before we entered Egypt. Over the month following we travelled together on and off for 10 days. What an amazing family. See photo of us on the Sudan/ Egyptian border. I will also be selling my book while traveling to finance my trip. The European motorcycle community is much much lager than here in RSA

I am very disappointed that the shipping agents would not sponsor you to get your bike over.

Hi Esplin I have previously approached many big companies in South Africa for a sponsorship and it seems nobody gives sponsorship for this kind of thing. I have also spoken to other world travellers and I get the same story from them. From all the companies that I approach only Shoprite Checkers came back to me to say that they use any spare money to improve on their staffs living conditions. Housing schooling etc. I have come to the conclusion now that best helping hand in the land is at the end of your own arm.

Moerse jaloers  Geniet dit
Wat kos dit om bike te ship?
R 15000-00 maar daar is eers 'n change of plan.

Just to report back I will be leaving for Europe plus minus the 20 th April on a standby ticket. I have to be in Belgium by 27/04/2018 for a bike get together of bikers from all around the world. I will also be selling my book there. I will also report on a continues basis on this tread of my travel there.
is that a Horizons Unlimited gathering Schalk? :sip:
Hi Welsh no it is organised by a German guy by the name of Bernd Tesch an 80 year old motorcycle world traveller. It has been running for 60 years and the meeting is mainly for people who are traveling around the world and also people who still want to travel around the world. He has also got the biggest selection of motorcycle travel books in the world. More than a thousand books. My book is now also on their data base and I will also be selling my book there. There will be about 350 people from around the world.

Hi Schalk,

Amazing book. I followed you on wild dog, but the book is in more detail.

Have you approach any of the shipping lines for a sponsor to get you and your bike over there. You miss 100% of the chances you don't take.

Go see the HR departments.
Hi Esplin I have given up on any form of a sponsorship. I found nothing is for nothing. I got a price to send my bike to Europe just yesterday. I am also in the process to translate my book into German. I will be in Europe toward the end of April. I am also going to attend a bike get together in Belgium which has been running for 60 years. The organiser has the largest collection of motorcycle travel books in the world. I will also be selling my books there.

Hi Guys just an update on what's happening with the rest of my ARTW trip. It looks like I am going to translate the book in German. Then I would like to travel to Europe and start again where I left off. I will then sell the German book as well as the English version while traveling the whole of Europe. The lack of money as with so many of us was the only reason for the delay. This tread will come alive again when I am on the road again.

All best with the translation! And the rest of your journey. Looking forward to reading more about your travels  :thumleft:
Thanks my man

Hi Gene and Neda if you do decide to come to Johannesburg I do have a spare bedroom where you could stay for free. I also have a caravan park/camping where you can stay for free on a river just outside of Johannesburg. I would like to meet you as I am also going to continue on my around the world trip next year. So far I have done a trip through Africa to Egypt and back through 18 countries 33 000km. I also wrote a book see picture. I also did a trip in 2010 with my son to the Equator and back on another route past the big 4 lakes in Africa. I think we can exchange Ideas. Just PM me on when you think your going to be in Johannesburg and be my quest.
