I have found out it is called the front neck frame assembly. The lugg has broken off. I took it to Donfords this morning and they agree with you that the bike must have been in an accident.

There are two options, repair weld, or get another one.

All the guys in CT are on holiday, so I have to wait for the new year to get it done

I rode over a pretty bad corrugated road and I sam my screen and instrument panel take on a rather peculiar angle away from me. There was also this noise of something scraping against the wheel.

Upon further inspection I saw that the fitting that secures the bar supporting the entire nose cone had collapsed.

We used two belts tied around the nose and handle bars and came home.

It appears to be an aluminium casting that has broken, and needs to be repaired. I cannot replace it as the VIN plate is attached to it

Any suggestions will be wellcome, I am in Cape Town

BMW 1100/1150/ADV / Help wanted 1150 GS Vibration
« on: November 27, 2016, 02:12:14 pm »
I noticed a high frequency vibration developing around 4000 RPM, which is very noticeable in the footpegs. The vibration seems to be directly proportional to RPM.

My Varkie is a 1999 model, and she has 160 000 km on the clock, and in very good condition. I am the third or fourth owner, and she seems to have been looked after.

I would like to gather information about possible causes before I take it to a workshop in Cape Town.

Thanking you in advance

and first weekend in November. Its already getting a little hot but not as bad as Dec/Jan/Feb

In my opinion Gariep is the best venue. in the centre of SA with plenty accomodation.

Aviation Board / Re: All drones banned!!!!

From the Regulating authority's perspective (read CAA), the advance in technology has caught them a little off-guard, but they need to regulate it as there has been a few close calls with aircraft and choppers, and they cannot allow the situation to escalate. The "ban" is to give them a little breathing space to get the regulations in place, which is a fairly lengthy and laborious process

Yah yah Kevin. Only you would see that.
That was a battery on the front tyre sensor that failed into the trip. Was also 2 bar before its battery vreked.
So now I will replace it in this week and all well.

Both of mine has vrekked (2008 GS). I replaced the batteries but still nothing. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated otherwise its off to BMW that is prepared to deliver the hurt to the tune of R4700.00

Got to add that I would like two stickers for the sides of the top box and two chevrons for the pillars, unless you have made a smaller size that would fit below the lock, even better!!

Hi to all Dawgs (and Dawgettes?)
Been on the forum for a while. Rode a 650 GS for a few months, sold it and went "underground". Just aquired a stunning 1200 GS, courtesy of Capt. Jack, and looking forward to long hours perusing all the delicacies this site has to offer.
Happy riding, regards,
