Marquez is a freak. Who saves a front slide  like that. And to top it off, he does this on every race weekend it seems.

Can someone tell me why Crutchslow and his bike was in the winners paddock after the race?
He came sixth so should have been back at his garage where everyone goes that is not under the first three.
AFAIK it's because he was the top bike for a satellite/private team

Edit: they have a separate championship among them

So the bike fest came and went... I really enjoyed it again this year, even more than the previous years.

We decided to take the kids along so that my son, who loves bikes, could go along. So all got into the cage and arrived just before the gates opened.

I did all my rides, including the adventure ride outs no problems.

But the absolute highlight of the day was the pocket bikes. Malan, 4yrs old, never rode a bike alone before. His balance is good, riding around on his balance bike, so I knew he will at least stay upright.

We recently got him a ride on motorbike toy, so he was introduced to a motorbike like throttle. So off he went with me in tow helping him with his target fixation.. So the rest of the day he kept going on about how he wants to go again.

We went back, and I tried as best I could to explain about looking where you want the bike to go, and forget about the barriers. For the first lap I was close, slowly leaving him on his own keeping a little distance, eventually just jogging along.

On the second last lap the little guy opened the throttle instead of closing it for the corner and went straight into the barriers, over the handle bars and head first into the steel barricade. I was a few steps behind, and just saw him lying there, not moving. His mom ran there with an absolute look of horror on her face, which scared me even more!

I guess instinct kicked in, I tried to remain calm, and carefully lifted him of lying him flat on his back to check if he is OK,which he was. The marshalls told him he should stand up straight before they can remove the helmet and then I heard the most beautiful words in the world:

"pappa, kan ek weer gaan?"

What a champ, and great that he wanted to get back on after quite a big crash for someone his age. I was so flippen proud at that moment. Had to convince his mom though...

Anyway, point is, when you fall off, get back on and try again. I think he learned a few valuable lessons today..

Cheers guys, thanks for the input.

Have a great week.

Ja shit, as also thinking the track might be fine but the outrides not so much. The cut is on an awkard place so it might be moer uncomfortable.

I've had stiches in my hands, feet, arms and pip on numerous occasions and it never stopped me doing what I wanted to.
Pain is not the issue. It is keeping it clean.

Enjoy the outing.

Flip bro, what the hell are you doing?!

Dani Pedrosa raced a 270hp MotoGP bike with a broken wrist. You’ll be fine.  :thumleft:

Those guys are like honey badgers. Crazy!!!! But valid points!

Look, riding in procession around Kyalami should be fine, just take it easy. I take it you are not doing the adventure outride? In which case I would reconsider.

Even the "Outride" is only 20 minutes and 5km or so - not actually technical

Fine I reckon, unless you want to DONATE the rides..... To Me......

 :thumleft:

I do have 3 adventure outrides for Sunday:
CRF450 RX
XR125
KTM Enduro 450 R

You might be lucky, Will check on Friday.

Good morning all.

I have been looking forward to this year's edition of the bike fest since the last one ended. But I have stuffed my hand up last week Wednesday with a big cut on the palm just below my fingers. For my efforts I was awarded 5 stitches  :xxbah:

I realised on Monday that the bike fest is this coming Sunday, and not next week, so would it be ok to still go to the bike fest and ride the bikes I have booked, or should I call it and rather let someone else have a go on the bikes?

What say the WD's?

Liewe ouers Kobus, jy is 'n pa 1000000000000.

Ek wens dat ek net 'n 10de van die pa kan wees vir my kiddies wat jy is. En ek try, maar val party (lees baie) dae miserably kort, dan is jou posts weer 'n goeie eye opener.

Keep it coming/going.

Dankie Antonie.  Jy moenie so hard op jouself wees nie.

Need some advice guys. I recently bought a beautiful second hand BMW 1200 GS. Got the poop scoop with it, but it was not attched. I have heard that some people said it is better to just leave it off. I however, would like it on. What would you guys do? Any advice would be appreciated.

There's your answer  :thumleft:

Congrats with your new bike. Many safe km's

It’s officially happening;

the KTM 790 Adventure

Story: Donovan Fourie
We’ve known that this was going to happen since last year after KTM unveiled the prototype for their 790 Duke at EICMA. No KTM employee would confirm it, no KTM employee would offer any form of details, but we knew it.

Then, as expected, KTM unveiled their 790 Duke at EICMA earlier today, and shortly afterwards they pulled the covers off another model – a prototype 790 Adventure. And the adventure world cheered.

Indeed, the old KTM 640 Adventure had a helluva following, being lauded as a machine that could handle anything that was thrown at it, and its ardent followers have lamented all the “heavy road bikes” that have been released since the 640 went out of production in 2007.

What we know about the 790 Adventure is that it will share the same 799cc parallel-twin motor as the Duke and it will maintain the full 105 hp and 86 Nm of the Duke without any unnecessary “retuning” from the factory.

The frame is the usual KTM steel-trellis variety, the suspension looks tall and off-roady, and the wheels are spoked and look as though they are 21/18-inch.

As every media outlet has already commented, KTM could not have stepped into a more competitive class; the middleweight adventure class is a savage place with every motorcycle manufacturer out for each other’s blood. Although, while everyone else is making waves about how practical and economical their machines are, KTM have stuck to their racing guns.

Although this is very likely going to change on the production bike, due to be released in 2019, the prototype simply looks like a rally bike. The seat is flat like that of a motocross bike, the screen is tall and flat, everything looks beefy and off-roady, and there’s even what appears to be a road map of sorts on the dash.

The Prototype is fully functional, too, with them tactfully keeping the bike on stage full of the dirt it had been covered with while testing in Spain before the Show. The video they showed during the presentation was equally convincing:
