General Bike Related Banter / Re: Bike vs Taxi
« on: October 11, 2018, 03:25:35 pm »
I feel it is simple to police the Taxi's. You pull him over. Make hiim reimburse his passengers and then he sits for an hour. After which he gets his keys back.

This way you don't have to deal with unpaid fines and you will improve their behaviour as it will get them where it hurts.

Its also a much better use of police time than hiding in bushes and outside KFC.
I have a better idea... shred the fukker with one of those portable car mincers... prefferably with the taxi driver inside. >:D :pot: :peepwall:

Shop prepped foods should never be kept as leftovers.
Own prepped leftovers should always go to the fridge asap.

I have a 200km bladder... nuff said...

As a youngster I had no problems doing Bloem to Cape Town during the night... today I would not make Colesberg so I prefer shorter segments with lots of sightseeing, photo stops and P stops... the journey is part of the destination.

The Karoo is famously Metzeler’s knobbly off-road adventure tyre, and yet their new model has been designated as the Karoo Street, presenting us with an oxymoron – what they are essentially calling this tyre is the Dirt Tar and that is preposterous. Miraculously, this is exactly what Metzeler are claiming. I took an arduous trip to Sicily and worked hard by riding a selection of adventure bikes up an active volcano to investigate.

I miss the old Karoo Knobby...

Kawasaki KLR 600/650 / Re: Engine cuts out at ful throttle
« on: March 05, 2018, 11:07:18 am »
That is very possible as 90% of my riding has been done on a dirt road between De Hoop Nature Reserve and Bredasdorp, usually following a vehicle making lots of dust.
The air filter has got to be unbelievably dirty to cause this by the way, dirt/water in the carb is my bet.

Those long pins that hold the pads in place sometimes wear and then dirt builds up preventing free movement of the pads.

Had exactly that. Soon as I went over 80km/h bike would die. I was bout to strip the motor when I found a kinked fuel line.
Blocked fuel filter can also do it if one was fitted...
If no filter then my bet is on dirt in the float bowl that is blocking the main jet.
