Planning a Ride / Passable?
« on: July 17, 2017, 12:10:25 pm »
Hi Dogs,

Does anyone know if this point is currently passable? Last time the water over the drift was running too fast and we had to backtrack.

It is the route from the R328 to Calitzdorp via Gamkaberg Nature Reserve crossing the Gouritzrivier.

Thanks

Me: What are you doing
Him: I'm enforcing the law..
Me: No you're not you are taking pictures of people trying to get to work in one of the worst traffic jams in years due to multiple accidents. Why don't get off you're ass and help with the traffic, you are not enforcing the law you are trying to make money. He wound up his window and I, as rate payer of Cape Town, walked away in disgust.

If some one has a link to the Mayor's office please send this through...

General Bike Related Banter / Pinelands 9am

To the youngster on the KLR this am...if you are on this site.

I kaked you out at the traffic light for passing cars on the left hand side going over the rail bridge at Vincent Pallotti. You probably think I was been silly and I first thought of letting it go. But I guess you have not had your mortality defining accident yet... you will and hopefully it will not be to serious.

Most older bikers have and that is why are still around.

Having a burn through the traffic is all well and good but no cars expect you on their left. Leave that bad behaviour to the scooter riders..

Rant over

General Bike Related Banter / Commuting Southern Suburbs to Town
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:54:28 am »
Any dogs on this route?

Our company is moving to town later this year and we might be moving house to the southern suburbs.

I currently have what I believe to be a rather relaxed commute from Milnerton to Pinelands via R27, Paarden Island and Maitland.

What can I expect on De Waal drive, hospital bend and the M3?

Do I need to increase my life insurance...

Looks like a 400cc SuperSport.

Bike lane splitting car changing lanes type of accident.

Did not witness it but rode past within minutes.

Rider OK. Bike will need work..... >:(

It was almost the same spot where Grrrr was nearly taken out last week. I witnessed that and now I am a Biker Witness  ;D

General Bike Related Banter / Old Bike Found - Heartbreaking
« on: July 10, 2013, 09:51:39 am »
I saw my old KLR250 in the traffic the other day. Sold her to Meekat in 2008 and I think he sold her too. Well she was stuffed: Red Plastic's now pink and parts missing. It was mine as the Reg No was the same. Very sad as I looked after her and she was sold in pristine condition...she used to look like this...

Hello, it rained in Cape Town this morning and I got wet. I need to get a proper rain suit. Any suggestions as to what to get and where in CT and price?

And does it really keep you dry or does it start leaking after 10,20,30 minutes...

Comments appreciated. Thanks

My bike has done just over 6000km's as has developed a very pleasant exhaust popping noise on decelaration.

Is this my engine "maturing"? Just curious...

I'm curious as to what this amount should be including parts and labour and nothing extra.

General Bike Related Banter / Biker Down? M3/N1 Flyover
« on: February 22, 2008, 09:07:57 am »
Big traffic jam coming through Paarden Eiland this morning. Saw a bike on the top flyover leaning against the retaining wall. All the Paramedic's (dozens of them) were attending to someone below. I guess the biker was knocked against the wall and fell over about 5 meters. Anyone know what happened?

Clothing and Equipment / Waterproof ??????
« on: November 08, 2007, 09:49:46 am »
I purchased an Assault Touring jacket a few months ago and used it in the rain in Cape Town yesterday.
According to the tags it came with it has REISSA power skin which quote "Super resistance power of wind.rain and snow(Even if racing 100 mph)"
It took me an half an hour to get home in steady rain. The jacket was pretty soaked and even the inside of the pockets were wet.

The jacket cost me R1500.00. Have I been conned?

I would appreciate any comments.....

Hello All,

Tis me Worsie_se_Pa and I purchased a new 2008 KLR 650 a few months back. I have had a KLR 250 since 2005.
