The Swartpilen can be the best bike in world, but telling someone that you ride one is social suicide.

I can just imagine interesting pub conversations ..... :imaposer:

For me personally Austrian/Italian bikes preferably not more than 40k... Jap bikes 60k as parts just cheaper generally...

One of my colleagues 2010 GS1200A has just hit 200,000km (bought new) and still going strong on original motor, so if high mileage a consideration maybe look at an airhead.... ;)

Decide what you wish to spend and find a running example of same model..... at 68 you want to ride sooner than later and this bike is not really a collectors piece, so let someone else bother with this example... :thumleft:

Remind me to buy my next bike from you Kobus..... ;) ;D

Nice garage, is it a rented space?

Try the Inet, best place to buy specialist tools like these imo....

Well said sir.

I wear an open face helmet and often tour in a tshirt. Without fail on every ride I get the Darwin comments and have you seen the internet pics of guys faces getting smashed off.
Well sod off. I actually want to feel the wind in my face and have uninterrupted views of the world around me. It might actually add to safety???

I want to wheely, slide out of corners, jump of pavements and generally act like a juvenile twat sometimes.

I don't care how fast my bike actually goes as it long it feels fast .

I still think a 990R is a better bike than newer models. I know it's slower, has kak brakes etc but it feels like a bike should, raw, rough and exciting. If I wanted smooth wind free and comfy I'll get a VW Golf.

Cut of the same cloth.... :thumleft:

That look of fear I often see in the eyes of big bike riders when you mention the next 50km is thick twee-spoor sand.

Or the crying over the repair bill when the big bike toppled over at walking speed.

Reminds me of a friends GS LC which did exactly that.... toppled over in a rut, he could not catch it and the resultant fairing damage cost him R12k in repairs (mounting broke through fairing)....... no thanks!

Magtig, that wasn't very clever, hatemail will pour in now, especially because I got a lekker F800GS-Adv in my workshop

Now I don't get "lekker" and 800GS in one sentence..... ???.....

Ive ridden the Enduro and its a great bike, feels light and very responsive with heaps of power........ no brainer imo ... ;)

The Duc's have resolved much of the former reliability issues which plagued the brand during earlier years, so no good reason NOT to buy one..... hell its a Ducati  :thumleft:

I dumped mine long ago so now I run an inline fuel filter there yes.... cannot say that I have to top up oil more frequently as my bike seldom requires oil anyways...
