Please voice your constructive concerns or possible praise here - I will make sure that the dealer gets the information, and deals with it.
What is going to happen to honda owners in East London now that this branch is closing?

@wheeler  - I believe the offset clutch plate is just to transfer/offset stresses in the outer clutch basket "teeth", the basket looks machined for that... but you will  have to a service/owners manual and just make it like the manual says so ensure that if you do break any teeth off the outer clutch when riding her hard you don't have to kick yourself for being lazy up front... if the manual says it should be that way, I'd get a new mechanic, sure it's nothing major but it is failure to pay attention to or care about finer detail... not good for a mechanic... and perhaps an honest mistake, it's your engine though....

PS... What exactly do you mean about the movement up and down and side to side? On my XR650L there is no play on the shaft which the basket fixes to, on my XL185S the basket as a whole does not have any play on the shaft, but the clutch and friction plates do have play inside the basket, up-down and left-right, is this what you are referring to?
Hey Jack, thanks for the reply, I did offset the last plate as the manual says. It seems the sideways and up and down movement is due to the clutch basket having rivets and rubbers that secure it to the back plate of the basket which is fastened to the output shaft. Apparently this is where the slight movement comes from.

Mind you, you opened it up - why, what for?
Slipping clutch, a noise or what?
It was opened to sort out whine in 3rd gear which turns out still whines in 3rd. I was riding and it sounded like the clutch was making more noise than it usually makes..I could be wrong. I am sometimes a bit anal about noises on a bike. So I opened the clutch cover to check the clutch spring bolts which are all tight. So I started pulling on the clutch basket....

I did also ask the mechanic to check the clutch bushing while it was open and he says it was fine

Also I noticed that he never offset the last clutch plate from the rest. What difference would this make? If any...

No idea what you mean,
- the clutch basket (the biggest circular thing i.e outer housing) can move sideways?
- the clutch inner housing can move a bit?
Also, is this movement noticed when assembled or disassembled?
It's all still assembled. Just clutch outer cover is off.on the pic those are the fingers of the clutch basket. There is some play sideways and up and down.

Hey guys, was just wondering, I am busy checking the clutch spring bolts and noticed that the clutch basket can be moved side to side and up and down. Should it be rigid and not move at all any direction. Should the last clutch plate be offset from all the others?
