KTM 640 High front mudguard fitting
« on: June 12, 2012, 10:52:11 am »
Hi Almal.... ek soek so stukkie hulp / raad seblief....
my 640 Adventure has the low street type front mudguard on, which doesn't really stop any sand from shooting up at the back of the mudguard between the frame and bars - so ek eet meer sand as saamies innie bos... I'd like to fit a high mudguard over the front wheel - has anybody ever done this  :-\ - are there any mods that need to be done ???, which mudguard fits perfectly?

any advise / suggestions - please let me know?

thanks a mill  :thumleft:

Praat jy van 'n vol conversion of net 'n high fender by sit?

eish Dwerg!
dit klink moerse duur... :-) all I want to do is to change the mudguard, no fender add ons or anything else - like the same as in your profile pic... a standard high front mudguard .... any ideas? or is this exactly what you are speaking about...? :-)

Dis presies waarvan ek praat  ;D

Die hoe fender self kos maar so R300 of so

having had a smoke and thinking about what you said - brought me to the same conclusion - the one brake line following the fender to the other disk.... ek's nie baie lus om een brembo te verloor nie - meskien maak ek sommer net 'n mudflap en maak dus die ageterkand van my fender biethie langer - sodat die sand nie so op skiet in my bakkies in nie... :-)
thanks vir jou raad, ek sal bietjie die brein laat werk en kyk waarmee ek kan opkom - ek stuur jou 'n pic van my mods :-) (hier kom k@k) ::)

Cool  :thumleft:

Oja en ek kry nogsteeds sand in my oŽ as ek met my visor oop ry so die hoŽ fender gaan nie noodwendig die probleem oplos nie!

ag crapper - maybe I should have started by asking if this makes a difference or not :-)
I think I've got a plan in my mind on how to fix this without changing too much - nothing to remove just a small modification to be added.... extend the fender with some 2mm aluminum that's been craftily shaped - or maybe some nylon plastic would work better, 2 struts coming from same location as where the fender connects to the forks - moving to the back over the wheel at a slight angle - that might work, easier said than done I would assume - but worth a try...  :thumleft:

I am not a fundi at all, but what about leaving the existing fender in place as is and then just adding a high mudguard like Dwerg's? It might not look too great, but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Use it...dont use it  :ricky:

Watse fender het jy toe opgesit? Een ding om te check met aftermarker fenders is dat hy nie teen jou waterpyp skuur nie

I went to KTM CPT on Friday on got a fender for the bike... '07 plastics... I did have to lift it a bit on the back as it was against the water pipe - as you suggested, and the plastics was bent, warped from storage I would assume... now I have about 4mm clearance and everything on straight... :-)

Looks Good  :thumleft:
Been considering the high fender conversion for a while...
This solves the brake pipe issue nicely...
May try the same ...
Took a while getting used to not having a visible mudguard whilst riding , which is what i prefer...
