why are they all so butt ugly, overbuilt and impractical looking? So far the 3 big adventure tourers from Intermot - the new BMW, KTM and Suzuki V-Strom, are all horrible to look at in my opinion. Let's not even talk about the Honda Cross-whatever...

Not only the big bikes, BMW/Husky did the same with the new 650 Terra terrible whatever

to be fair, that's not really ugly, it's just a little boring looking compared to their more enduro models... it's nowhere near the over-the-top, anime-esque madness of some of these big guns...

borderline, looks better than the rest, but still a lot of angles and things that look like they'd get in the way.

Don't know what you talkin' about the_wes. I find the VStrom extremely pretty, the 1200KTM beautiful, the S10 butt-ugly, etc etc.

But you said it"...all horrible to look at IN MY OPINION..."

So yes mate, its all a matter of opinion. Some will like some, and some will hate some. So to say that big adventure tourers are getting uglier and uglier, is your opinion; one that some will agree with, and some not.

So I agree; some are ugly, eish, but some are pretty darn good lookin'!

They're becoming even-heavier road bikes. For the expanses of tar in Europe and the US.

In short, less gravel and more Europeans want tar tourers. Just look at the figures there's 80milj Germans, 15 milj Dutch, ext, ext...............if only 10% ride bike, why cater for the few thousand South Africans. Even the Aussies have nothing to them. There's 300milj Americans, again if only 5% use d/s bikes it's more than Europe total. Some Germans we have met told me they sell more KTM's and BMW;s in Europe than anywhere else in the world.

It's over and done with, dual sport will never be the same.

You're right I guess... for example, I think the S10 is THE sexiest big adventure tourer (of the new models - the older 990s and 950s and the 1150GS and older 1200GS adventure are still hot).

yip. Even the TE630 was hotness!

The Husky story for me is tragic on the engine front, nevermind the looks. I know why they ditched that monster motor for the Rotax mill, but I don't like the fact that they did it one little bit. Actually makes me sad inside. I need a hug.
