Rain Suits

This morning I dicovered that my 4 year old Perfecto rain suit is not so perfect anymore. I was soaking wet when I arrived at work. It is leaking at all the seams.
Any suggestions as to what to buy now?
How good are the BMW rainsuits and which one is best, the one piece or a two piece?
Any other good rainsuits out there?
My very expensive AXO waterproof gloves with thinsulate is very good at keeping water in but not out.

The BMW suits are around R1800.

Builders do infact have rain suits in green, blue and yellow, but they
dont seem to cope with rain on a bike.

You don't want to get wet on a long tour on the bike. R 800 for a good rain suit will be money well spend !

The reviews are good. They have the 2 piece as well.
Midas in Silverton stocks them, but didnt have many sizes when
I was there last. Call Samantha on 012 8048888 she'll tell you what they
have  currrently.

My balls are still wet from this mornings soaking, I have a rainsuit jacket, but nothing for my pants, I dotn mind getting wet but sitting at work with a wet crotch isnt very comfy

Yes, they cost R150 at Builders, but they are absolutely crap. My boet bought a set for his wife on a trip. At the next stop, the suite was torn apart.
I have one of those blue/yellow suites (RWT). They may not be the best but works well for under R500 IIRC.

My BMW one was good for two years. This morning I was wet from the waist down. I see there is a hole between the legs. Will see if I can get some waterproof tape and patch it.

Sealed my pants with a seam sealing glue you get at most outdoor shops. Seamgrip
Still holding strong after a couple of uses.

Also patched a tear in my pant leg with duct tape last year which is still holding.

It is a Vuka rainsuit.

I was looking into this some months back.

I tried a set of Oxford bone dry pants, they were useless, leaks on the second use, took them back for a refund.
Did some research on UK forums bout Oxford, seems they are good at keep you warm in winter but little more.

One buddy at work bought a perfecto suit, he's used it in light showers since the start of summer with no hassles till today.
Now he's walking round the workshops looking like he has a bladder problem.

Builders sell suits for R99, the jackets work well but the leggings start to leak after second or third use. I think the problem is they are intended to we worns and walked in. sitting of the bike rubs the thin rubber lining off then the wet ass steps in.

I would love to know where proper sea angling oil skins are available in Joburg.
A few places sell imitation oilskins, they are yellow with a plastic film over some sort of weak fabric, they soon develop cracks and leak.

BMW sell a rubber lined rainsuite for poss R1500 
They sell the leggings separate for about R800, I looked at them and to be honest they didn't look any better than a R250 rainsuit from fool Frottle.

I think waders or proper oilskin leggings are the way to go.

Last week I found my 3 year old Hein Gericke pants were as waterproof as a sieve. This morning I taped the crotch seams with black duct tape (Pants are black) and arrived at work dry. Tonight I will reapply the duct tape with contact adhesive. I know this works having patched a Camelback bladder 12 years ago which still does not leak.

Thankfully I won't have to get a new rain suit. Give it a try

Outdoor Warehouse & Cape Union Mart sell a seam sealer which seems to work well, even a spray which will re-waterproof fabric. Maybe try their product, forget the name.
