What a Day! What a Ride.

Ryperd and myself ( Game Spotter.) JM's name for me. Left at 8.30 through the backroads in the east to start our ride at Pienaars River up to Bella Bella and back. Here is a section that i have been eyeing for a long time. Man it was a real gem. Thick sand in sections and then hard packed surface as well as some marbles just to make it interesting. Not even 12km from home ;)

After the above section i got to a T junction , stopped and looked at the GPS.... Left or Right? Yes i got one now and still trying to figure out how all the functions work ;D  As i stopped and turned the wheel Karplaks! Timber----- Over i fell ::) Jumped up dusted myself off and was caught in the act of picking my bike up. Ryperd said i should look on the Forum their is someone called Blazes who takes noob's for rides and that i should join and take up some lesson's from him. :-[
Well we arrived after some long dirt roads at our starting point ;D And set off.

Now we were well on our way to Rooiberg and the roads changed from super fast to thick sand and every now and then ??? A trench across the road. some of up to 600mm deep washed away by the recent rains. Fortunately most of them the locals had put drum and branches in to warn road users. ;)Met This nice gentleman Petrus with his wife and two donkey Power Cart.(67yrs) Who told us they do not have crime at all and leave some of their goods  outside. ( Said all the skelms lived in town) Need to go back and drop off a picture for him. The Local Shabeen and the road ahead.Some of the local donkey population.

On the Thabazimbi road we turned off to Modimolle. Unfortunately a lot of the roads i mapped were closed due to large areas being bought up and closed for game farming. Now we were on our way to Bella Bella for lunch ;D Guess who was riding in front ;D The clean bike if you need a clue. ::)

What can I say.  It was an awesome day.  When I stopped @ home I did 505km since we started at the BP garage @ Fearie Glen.  The roads were absolute gems, from hard pack 130km/h plus to sandy sections to ruts and lurkers.  Definitely wort a re-ride.  I even saw some other turn-offs that looked interesting and worth a visit.

Was fun riding "sweeper", to watch Blazes playing with the "middel mannetjies".  I couldn't help to laugh when he put the left foot out and then "dismounted" to the right.  His name - Blazes- can be traced back to the speed he can pick a bike up and look as if nothing happened.  ;D

JourneyMan - nah... I will not moer you.  Your b/day run is near. >:D  >:D

Franswest - the Touratech parts was bought from Touratech SA when they still had stock.  It did help that I worked there @ the time.  ;)

Blazes - when is the next weekday trip?  8)  It was really cool to ride with you, and I enjoyed the talks as well.
