Guys what top box rack do you use and soft luggage for the 690? If possible can you post pictures on the bike please. Thanks.

You could use a Enduristan drybag with 6.5 basepack.

No the 690 is not made to carry a lot of weight on the back and I certainly don't think a top box is a good idea. It doesn't have a subframe, the under seat tank is the subframe and the stock bolts already shear even when you don't carry luggage. I wouldn't carry more than a tail pack on the back and something like a giant loop bag is probably the best option. There are side racks that mount on the pillion footpegs for extra support but I am not a fan. If you don't travel light, the 690 is not the right bike

I have tried a few options and the following setup worked for me:

replacement upper and lower tank bolts (i can have more made up if there is enough interest)
PSP carrier rack
kappa tankbag
flying brick soft luggage

Giant Loop - Mojavi for day trips, Coyote for travelling light and Great Basin if you want to take the kitchen sink

What's all this BS about a 690 not being able to carry a load? The manual says not to exceed 300kg with rider. Just upgrade the tank mounts, add rear racks that secure on the foot pegs and you're good to go

It's meant to be a big enduro bike, not a everything and the kitchen sink tour bike. A top box would completely ruin the bike but maybe I'm the only one with that opinion

I agree, that was not the design intention but without too much effort, it can do a whole lot more (as can most bikes).

GJ uses his 690 as a working tool at mountain bike races and for many weekends a year he has a camera man riding pillion on the back of his 690 over the gnarliest terrain possible e.g. The Cape Epic route. He’s upgraded his mounts and he’s never had a problem

That's good to know. Being the only bike in my garage at this point it will probably be used for touring too

Is there an alternate (local) place to get upgraded tank bolts than Rally Raid? Their prices are a bit steep imo and not having to import will be more convenient
