LC needle sweep at startup?
« on: August 04, 2014, 08:51:22 pm »
According to the manual the speed and RPM needles are supposed to sweep to full-scale and back again during the self test every time the ignition is turned on.

Mine doesn't, it just remains stationary during the self test. Even so, the speed and RPM work, though.

Do I need to phone Bavarian to have it checked out? Does anyone else's sweep on startup?

Also noticed it,Zambesi service manager said it is not supposed  to move with check up(self diagnostic) :thumleft:

So why would the manual say it should?

So why would the manual say it should?

Same manual explains how to set your headlight lower and then tell you to reset back, to take it to a BMW dealer!?

Mine, nor Mags' bikes have sweeping needles.

That same manual shows you a pic of two helmets with luggage but it only shows two helmets on the dash? ???.

Is this a thread on how bad the manual is? :laughing4: because the rest of the bike is fantastic  :lol8::laughing4:

I think they outsourced every third page of the manual to China!   :imaposer:

So why would the manual say it should?

Manual also states, rather clearly, that all features, etc.  are not the same on all bikes, depending on spec and country of sale.

I tried to fiddle my on board computer as per manual.  No go.  Just before I declared myself a moron who cannot read a manual, I noted that the SA Beemers are not equipped with On-Board Computer Pro as a standard.  So, the settings I tried to fiddle with is not available to us.

Maybe sweeping needles are only on bikes in countries without domestics?

Which settings are those, André? I gather you're referring to the setup menu? The only thing I found different was the DWS that is not installed on my bike.

I tried to move the display around, i.e. show the info in different areas on the screen.

DWS not installed?  Oom 2SD would say that whenever one of us is on our bikes DW*S is installed!   :imaposer:

DWS?

Can't remember what it stands for, but it's the alarm system.

My bike does everything as per the manual including the two riders with luggage but the needles don't sweep.

There was a long thread on the UK forum about this as well. No one had reported that the needle sweep thing works. Manual is obviously wrong

@ LKM- I have only 2 riders setting, and not 2 riders with baggage. You sure you have 2 plus luggage?

FFS......cut the lawyer speak!
Baggage is not an ex, illegitimate children etc.

It's stuff you pack on the bike to camp.

Luggage is when you book into a B & B.

Hey man- take your sprocket and go and find a chain to play with 😄

The luggage/baggage icon is not available on the 2 up setting- that is what I meant.

Buy a secondhand Honda XR60L. Instruments always work. No seriously take the Beemer back and have them fix it if the sweep is
what it's supposed to do. XR is pretty much analog so I would not understand half the stuff you are talking about. Good Luck  :thumleft:
