I would like to buy a new camera. I have no idea to look for in a camera as I am only a beginner. I would like to take photo's of my findings along the road, my climbing expeditions and people I meet. Could anyone offer advice...#pleasehelp

I am a professional photographer.... but since I have my SAMSUNG GALAXY Note 3 I only use it when I am riding.
Reason - It becomes a schlep to stop. Take off the helmet and gloves. Get the camera out and take a shot. Get all the stuff packed a way and dressed and 1km further you stop again.
So it all depends on what you want to shoot and how often.
For quick pics I now prefer a mik an druk concept. If I go out and plan to shoot certain things I would ride to there and then get my Canon 5Dii with L lenses out.
So start off by deciding how often you want to stop and take a photo and how good that photo must be. If you look at most of my Ride Reports I took photos with a small camera or either my I Phone or the Samsung.
No issue with quality
