Anyway around Wesbanks "Titleguard" BS?

I'm looking at buying a KTM Adventure from a private seller, I remember from my previous experience financing a bike that just as you think you've done all the maths and can just afford things, they whack you another R3000 for this TitleGuard bollocks.  I remember last time that all they did for this amount of money was send a couple emails to the seller and me

Is there any way around this with Wesbank?  The purchase price is already at the limit of what I can do, and adding another 3grand for no reason really grates me.

Just tell him that's all you've got - no more - and be prepared to walk away from the deal if he does not drop price

If he really wants to / has to sell then I'm sure he will drop price

Titleguard will not reduce their contract fee - believe me I have tried

No they handle the all the admin and they even go and do the registration at the traffic department.

In the end, it may be up to you to go to the traffic department to do the licensing to
get the numberplate number.

In a way they make sure that everything is legit and done properly.
In a way they are protecting themselves........and you are paying for it, but they are also
protecting you against some fraudulent transaction or faulty registration etc.....
Maybe R3500 is a bit excessive, but it is not like you are not getting anything back
in return for your money.
Just let them finance the amount. It is only gonna add a few Rand a month to
your payment.

You can try and approach a bike dealer and ask them to facilitate the deal for you as some Dealers will do it for a bit less than R3000. They will make a commission from the bank for doing the deal so they are happy to facilitate these deals.
