Bikesquad - Unit Nostalgia. Training Process to follow.
« on: October 26, 2015, 05:42:16 pm »
I went on to a military Facebook group I belong to two weeks ago and what do I see...
Two pics of me doing what I love  :deal: :ricky: taken whilst escourting Swawek engineers from the Hydro Electric  Plant just inside Angola back to Ruacana town and Base.
The son of one of the Engineers found the pics recently and posted them.
It was a very lekker surprise after 29 years especially when pics were scarce and Ilegal .
The pics was taken in 1984.
Thanks for having a look at some of my precious memories.

Very nice, and impressive.

I once got sunburned on weekend pass, and was brought on orders for damage to state property.

I would hate to think what they would charge you with if one of those went over  ;D.

Very lekker!!!!!

I know that little "pass" very well, from down at Calouec back up to Ruacana town.  It was tar already when we guarded the Swawek lines in 1979/80.

Our "wheely guy" was Murray Hoffman, also on that same BikeSquad FB page.

Me and Wayne Hitge and Charlie Holden use to play Kenny Roberts, flat-out on twin-shock XR500 up and down there. Wayne died in a motorcycle crash in 1981.

We really looked after our bikes.
Murray Hoffman is a legend. :deal: Dan. That was a lekker pass to practise your wheelie skills.

Eeish RIP Wayne.

Nice one boet.

But let me remind you that I was a Technical Service Officer for Northern Logistic Command, and therefore the wellbeing of your bike fell under my command. You are invited to come to my office on Orders. Your kak is booked.

PS. Brilliant photo. Also explains why your GSA has such a hard life

Thanks everyone and yes Geelkat it is a Snotneus/ M79 40 mm grenade launcher..... one of my favorite weapons and as you can see I didn't even have my R4 with me.
Chris it was always a worry when we fell because when we were on.patrol we had all sorts of weapons and rounds on us. Luckily the Snotneus grenades only armed themselves after a couple of metres and I carried 40 on me.
James you have to catch me first lol.

Yes we did have a jol once we got to the border but I think I have pushed a bike more than anyone during our training. 2,4's pushing our bikes and pushing a couple of k's to get to our TB.
We earned our place in Bikesquad.
Good friends and fresh mud......
