A lot of planning seems to have gone into this event and there are numerous activities. If people do not go and support such events, then such people should not complain if these types of events begin to disappear.
I say, go and support the event and keep the interest alive; this will lead to other such events in future if such events are supported by the community.

I'm no expert, but I am going, sure there'll be lots to see and do. Especially the test rides

I will be there on Friday, booked 5 rides. Cannot wait. Going to be riding some bikes I always wanted to, and to be one of the first to ride the new circuit.
They will definitly have a marshall riding in front, but still it would give one a good opportunity to feel the bike. Whoop whoop, bring it on!

I wonder if they will have vendors selling tyres amongst other goodies, as I'm need to fit some new ones.

I doubt I will go. Nothing I cant see there that I cant see at full throttle/dealer/agent/etc.

Test rides will have to be paid for as I understand it. Test rides at dealers normally free.

I will be there on the Sunday for the charity ride and 2 laps around the track. Been waiting for an opportunity to go around the new track for a while. Will be taking the SP just for the hell of it.

Where will you get a chance to ride a Ducati Panigale, Triumph Rocket 3, BMW X1000XR, KTM 1290 Superduke R, and a Yamaha R1 all in an afternoon on the new Kyalami racetrack???
If you calculate the cost you are paying no more per lap that if you would do a trackday, and the dealers have costs after all, tyres/insurance/fuel/staff. I think it is a bargain.
Don't think they will miss you if you don't go, there will be plenty people enjoying themselves on the day.

For the charity ride you buy a ticket together with your entry on the website (www.southafricabikefestival.com) R190 entry and R20 for the charity ride,then meet Sunday morning at worldwear center on beyers naude drive. Depart 08h00. Finish with two laps around Kyalami and park in the bike park.

Test rides can be booked also on the website (R90-160 depending on bike) in time slots, or go to circuit and wait in line and hope you get a chance, the time slots are for 30mins, so 15mins for booked rides and the other 15mins first come first serve on the day. Be sure to take your licence, gloves, helmet, jacket, and closed shoes if not full atgatt. And don't drink before, they take breathalyzer!!

Sunday Charity Motorcycle Ride
Hundreds of South Africans will finally have the opportunity to ride their own motorcycles around the newly refurbished Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit as the ride finishes with TWO laps in formation around the circuit followed by an action packed festival complete with live music, circuit test rides, stunts, jumps and MORE! This is the FIRST time visitors will be able to ride their very own motorcycles around the track since the completion of the massive transformation of the circuit and surrounding facilities.
Think Bike & JMPD will marshal the Charity Ride on Sunday with FULL road closures. Riders will be following a truck called The Mustang Sally which will be leaving at 8:30am and completing a short ride around Johannesburg. Bikers and their pillions are encouraged to arrive at the WorldWear Shopping Centre, Fairlands JHB from 07H00 as the restaurants are opening early to accommodate. The public will have key viewing points from one of the bridges over the highway: Malibongwe Dr, William Nicol or Bowling Ave.
The cost to participate is a R20 Top Up; on your South Africa Bike Festival ticket, with all proceeds going towards CLAW (Community Lead Animal Welfare) through the Ride for a Reason-Claw and Paws Charity organisation. Those who are visiting the festival on the Friday and/or Saturday can still participate in the ride on the Sunday morning and can then choose to return to the festival or head on home after the ride.
The Route:
•   Think Bike is working with Wheels Unlimited and JMPD on the complete road closure to ensure that the ride flows uninterrupted
•   The ride will be starting at the WorldWear Centre, Fairlands JHB; the ride will exit the centre onto Enterprise and left into Wilson Street, left again onto Beyers Naude. Left onto N1 on ramp. Follow N1 northbound; take Ben Schoeman Highway towards Pretoria.
•   Take Allandale off ramp and carry on through Carlswold.
•   Cross over Main Rd and enter the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit entrance. Estimated 60km Route.
Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit:
•   They will complete two laps of the circuit before being lead into the Bike Park
•   All motorcycles to be guided into Bike Park area
•   Those who have bought tickets to the show will go through iTicket scanning at entrance to festival
•   Those without tickets to Sunday’s Festival can purchase them there for R220pp or R190 in advance

Hey Straatkat, if you get your kicks giving people loads of money to ride 2 laps behind a marshall on a superbike at 80km/h then good for you. I prefer to be more discerning...

Like being in bed with a supermodel but can only touch it....
