A little ride that almost turned out to be a disaster.
The first picture is the mountain (4 Peaks, Phoenix, Arizona) and the second was frozen ICE across the roadway. We rode up the mountain and crossed some snow and frozen water puddles and streams and I thought it was a lot of fun

Rick turned the a corner and was upon the ice. He managed to keep it together and kept on going. After the second turn he saw some more ice and kept going. Only problem was that this was solid ice side to side for as far as the eye could see. He eventually slipped and fell. The road was cut into the mountain and the left side was just a wall and the right side a few hundred meter drop

My buddy on the blue KLR dropped it twice and busted the left side shroud. The red XR 650 had no electric start. Ever tried kick-starting a 650 on solid ice, does not work that well

Took three of us about an hour to move XR about 250 meters across the ice. I now carry a long tow rope on my bike just in case.
