Gamkapoort dam

Was naweek daar by Gamkapoort dam. Ongelukkig nie met ʼn bike nie. Het ʼn klomp bikes gekry met Ladismith registrasie nrs.

Volgens internet is hy 3.8% vol.
Pad is baie klipperig en droog. Het behoorlik rondgeskud!

Floriskraal dam buite Laingsburg is 12% vol.

Aangeheg is paar ander damme in wes kaap.

Interesting riding around there - to see if one could get through around the dam when it is so empty (to Prince Albert).  If you go, say hello to Mr Foxy that runs the cottages.

I know an old man locally that used that road just about every weekend to get to his family when he was young and worked in PA and Leeu-Gamka. He has some interesting stories to tell driving it at night or after a rain in the winter.

I heard somewhere there used to be a trail into The Hell but the dam closed that.

Die inwoners van die Hel het al langs die rivier se loop geloop na waar die dam nou gebou is. Daar was n winkeltjie wat deur n Jood bedryf is. Hier het hulle droë ens geruil vir dinge wat hulle nie self kon verbou soos suiker en koffie.

Wat ek bedoel het die oom wat ek ken het die pad gebruik soos hy was PA toe voor die dam die pad toegemaak het.

About the road around the dam.  The one I am talking about is shown on T4A and north of the dam and which was cut off by the dam, but may be passable when the dam is very low.  The road eventually goes to Prince Albert,joins and has turnoffs to other gravel roads along the way, many shown as private. Mr Foxy (Fox) who runs the cottages reckons it is not usable and strikes me that he can be a difficult bliksem.

Nothing is shown going into Die Hel but on our visit in Sept 2016 we did go back up Boschluiskloof Pass, off the road and down Die Leer into Die Hel (on mountain bikes; well carrying them) but this does need permission from land owners at the bottom and top plus some payments.

We had a serious adventure racer with us and she said they had walked, climbed and swam up the Gamka River from Die Hel and to the dam. A very tough lady though.

Not my neck of the woods sadly - I am a  KZN banana muncher usually.

If you fly to CT from DBN and are sitting in the right side of the aircraft ( and visa versa), you get a good view of that...and even the road from the Swartberg Pass into Die Hel ( if you know what to look for).

Its basically free sand

Nope as ons geld op dieper grawe spandeer dan is daar nie geld vir opfok en rondhoer met belastingbetaler  se geld nie.

So fok die meer water wat ons nodig het ons sal wel iemand daarvoor blammeer vorentoe as ons wee rosnder water is
