Tyres for the Twin - MITAS OR TKC80 OR ??????
« on: November 29, 2017, 01:56:13 pm »
I had MITAS E07 on all my previous bikes and never had a problem and now looking to put on the Africa Twin
BUT
Got a strong recommendation from a experienced rider to go for TKC80 front and rear. I really like the looks - lot more aggressive than E07's but I am worried about the tar riding (i do 50/50), and front wheel cornering. I know TKC80's have a very good name but heard that you need to inflate them very high on tar not to get the middel knobbie melting  :eek7:
MITAS E07 Rear - R1850
MITAS E07 Front - R950
TKC 80. Rear - R2500
TKC 80 Front - R1300
(Just Bike and Tyre)

Your view/experience please ............

not to get the middel knobbie melting

It will happen with time anyway when you use front brake a lot. Cornering with front TKC on tar no problem.
My front stay at 1.85 b most of the time. I would pump it up to 2.2 if I know I'd be doing whole day on tar.
They good tyres and would be a good choice even if you fit a 50/50 type tyre at the back to get more mileage than a knobbly.

I am surprised with the good wear in front on tar on the TKC80 on my F800GS. But then I keep it properly inflated at 250kpa. I run an Anakee 3 at the back for distance...
BoosterPlug, LED Spots, Tool Tubes, RustStop, Kappa Screens, Top boxes, Tank Bags, ATG Gear - whatever works for me.

I'm just waiting for my roeibootjie (aka December bonus) to dock and I'll be putting on a TKC80 front and E07 back.

Had the E07's front & back on the Tiger and was very happy. Hoping to be more happy with the TKC on the front.

On the AT IMitas E07 rear. Got 12 000 km on so far and both still in good condition. Run both at 2.1bar on and off road

TKC80 on the front and EO-7 on the rear for me for the last 5k, happy with that combo. Also do 50/50. TKC80 grips well on tar.

Nou raak jy "warm": Schalk!

Excellent traction in all conditions - currently on 13000 km with a lot of life left... Pal met AT stem saam daarmee!!

Ouens,  probeer gerus Kenda Big Block.
