« on: May 09, 2020, 02:32:23 pm »
Seems that someone skipped a red light. And brought him down

He said via Whatsapp that he hurt his back and was on the way to the hospital.

Get better soon @XTZFegen

Just received this update
Quote
Out of hospital. Booked off the week with physio everyday for my back.

No serious injuries thank God.

Witness reckons the guy was doing between 80 and 90km when he hit me.

They watched him accelerate when the light when red.

I ended up about 20 feet from the collision point.

Hey Cracker,
Man that was a crazy day. I must say I can see why people get addicted to painkillers - I've just woken up.

The scary thing for me was I somehow managed to lift my right leg up and high enough a second before impact. Exactly where my leg was his car hit me.

I was thrown from the bike and ended up on the other side of the road facing on coming traffic.

Hospital staff at Clinton were awesome. Really great.

So all in all it turned out well Thank God.

That accident was scary. I dont know how I walked away with almost no injuries. I didn't even see the guy skipping the red light until he was almost on top of me side on. In what feels like 1 second I was able to lift my right leg over his bonnet, turn my bike to the left and then all I heard was a massive Bang! I dont know how I reacted the way I did - the body is amazing.

I went over the bonnet and ended up on the other side of the road and I watched my bike fly through the air and land and slide. I felt pain in my back the minute I stood up.

I just don't know how I have walked away from this with as little injuries as I have. It was a few quick movements in seconds I made and somehow all the pieces came together. I reckon had I not moved I'd have no leg today.

Crazy....

My poor bike though, she took the full impact.

Massive thanks to Halfdaft for coming out to help and take my bike. I didn't want to leave her with the guys at the accident scene.

How is the bike?

Going past Halfdaft tomorrow to get a proper look. All damage to front end and side. Crashbars took a big hit so I'm worried about the frame. Halfdaft says the headlight cluster is all gone.

The idiot who hit me doesnt have insurance so I need to figure that part out now...

Hope it is not too bad.

Sadly if the other party has no insurance you are pretty much on your own.
Let your insurance handle it, that is what they are there for.

Hope you can stretch the rest out in the morning.

I didn't phone Outsurance yet. Was put down the whole afternoon with painkillers.only just woken up. I'll get a case number tomorrow then report it to the insurance company.

I figured cause he doesnt have insurance then I'll have to foot the bill.

I've never had to claim in my life so a little nervous, not sure what the procedures are.

Donít stress it, just report and claim.

Yes you are correct, the other party will walk away, you are on your own, but your insurance needs to sort your shit out.

Seeing that there was a witness, has the other party been charged with skipping the robot ? He can't walk away with no repercussions

Metro was there. For 5 minutes. Said I must go to the Germiston police station and they left. Did fuck all...

Can I lay a charge against him for running the red light?
