Last time we were there it was said that the ghost town would be given to the dunes. That no attempt would be made to fight the sands again.

Are they holding true to their promise or are they going to milk Kolmanskop forever? Lovely place. Will be sad to see it go but also poetic. Keeping it alive artificially seems wrong somehow

It is still controlled by the mine, with the new entrance just next door.

I went in before sunrise on what they call a "photgraphic" permit. It was awesome. There was no one else around except for the security guard who went into the main hall to play piano, still dark, it was really a ghost town, haha

One of the highlights on our trip for sure, probably top of the list.

i think it was there - that last photo with the bath on the outside looks just like the building used in the show - but i could be wrong i was like 5 years old  :biggrin:
