Well a huge howzit from to all youz..

Been a TB member for a year now and on many occasions have been told to visit this forum for various questions i have posted.

Only been riding my Baby Strom for 2 years, commuting to work from Randpark Ridge to Illovo.
Before that rode XR 200 R in Natal cane fields back in the late 80's
About to have my new GSA delivered on Thursday, so thought it was time to join the people in the know...
Am completely noob when it comes to OFF-ROAD, so will be doing a few BMW courses to get some idea..
Any other hints or advice will be greatly appreciated..[/b]

and congratulations on the new bike

Personally I found that the transition from tar to gravel was a bit tricky.
Not at first though. You just tend to go for it without thinking of any skills you are supposed to have.
After the first couple of falls and the accompanying expense of replacing all the broken parts, you start to get a bit worried about your abilities.

Doing a BMW course should give you some much needed confidence so you can have fun right from the start.
If you decide to teach yourself and take tips from riders already used to dirt you will also get to that level of proficiency but it normally takes a bit longer.

The GSA is a great bike but you took on a hell of a huge beast to start off your dusty life. It's nothing like your XR200. believe me...

Have fun... You'll love it! It's awesome

Welcome Beachbum!

Just take it a step at a time. Do NOT try and ride above your current DS capabilities but do try and put into practise that which you will learn here and whilst riding with the more experienced DS riders.

You WILL learn a lot from them. :wink:  

Observe, learn and implement bit-by-bit.



Oh yeah. All new members up here in Gauteng must go up Koos se Klim as innitiation. You'll be the first 1200GSA to go up there, so quite a honour. :D
