So I'm working in Zambia this year (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=83968.0) so decided to post some general pictures, nothing spectacular though. Here goes:

A place I now call home

Enjoying some home-made burgers with friends and work colleagues

We grow our own veggies

Ons het slaapplek vir baie

In my opinie is Zambië seker die mees stabielste Afrika land en ons ondervind geen probleme nie, bly lekker en dis vrek mooi groen hier, dis ja - ek dink ook dis n great land

Dis was regtig interessant gewees, sal beslis dit aanbeveel as mens in die omgewing is.

Haar dogter het ons ontvang by die plaas en sover ek van die gids kon aflei toe hy ons die geskiedenis vertel het, is die ou tannie nog wel daar op die plaas.

When I saw the salad at teh home made burger braai i instantly thought.. I bet they grow their own veg.

That soil is so fertile there.

Zambia, the land of opportunity... IMO

I will be applying for work in Lusaka within the next three months or so.
Have you been there, worked there, lived there? Any advice?

Hi Wortel

I can't comment on Lusaka, Only drove through the city (Traffic is a nightmare

in rush hour

). We live +- 400km up North from Lusaka.

On Zambia itself I can say that I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. People are friendly towards us, religion (Christianity) plays a major part of the every day life. The crime rate is MUCH lower than in SA

Food is a more expensive (not sure if it is the case in Lusaka), but here on the border you pay! Pizza on average = ZKW 60 000 (+- R100) so everthing is about 30+ % more expensive

I'm enjoying my stay in Zambia, If I must choose any African country other that SA or Namibia, I think Zambia is the best bet!

If you guys want to explore a very cool natural wonder go explore the Kabompo river which flows into the Zambezi near Angola/Zambia border.It has a whirlpool which the river disappears into then a mountain or two later resurfaces.

In order to get a Tax-benefit, some criteria must be met. One being that I must be out of the country for a continuous period of 60 days...SWAMBO did not like this idea, thus we arranged for her to come visit me to make the whole 'long distance relationship' more bearable.

I surprised her with a visit to a Game Lodge near the Ndola Airport (www.nsobegamecamp.com/)

The sign at the main entrance (Christianity is a very big roll of the every day life)

The bush in Zambia is absolutely stunning

Some Kids that stay on the farm

On the edge of the Kafue river

A very happy Minora and SWAMBO

Accommodation for the night

Have i mentioned how beautiful the bush is?

The anthills is something that blows me away, this is a rather small hill, it's rather tall but if i must guess, the average hill is about 6-8m in diameter (How long it must take these small animals to construct this?)

We were lucky to spot some game in this type of bush

And even luckier to spot a couple of Puku's (But was not able to get a clear shot so this was the best attempt)

This poor Blue Duiker has some sort of tumor/abses (Not sure what may have caused this, any comments?)

Back at the camp, life is good in Africa

Again some local boys on the farm, a very big bike for a small boy
