Long Range tank for Honda CRF230F?
« on: June 25, 2012, 02:02:21 pm »
Howsit Dawgs... has anybody got, or know of where to get a larger tank for the CRF230F? I want a better fuel range than the 8-odd litres that's on the bike standard ??? Looking for 12 - 15 litres.

may sound dof but it way cheaper to strap a 10 lt plastic thing on the back or one of those tanks that fit on the front

Thanks Scribble... I've already been using a 5L red plastic lawnmower can, but the problem is that the blerry thing falls off every now and then when the bungie cord comes loose.! :eek7:
I've seen that Clarke tanks make them, but they come at a price (*$200,oo from the states). Then there's Vat & crap to pay at postoffice. I was wondering if there was anything available already imported.

200$ is really not a bad price
It may be worth having a look and seeing what the would rock you all in definately 14% vat and shipping
Doubt there would be much else
At woa i saw a type of tank that fits onto your handlebars sort of where the number board sits but i figured thats the last place in earth i would like to have weight on my plastic bike
Also i think the price was just over a gorilla
Suddenly the other one doesnt sound so bad

Yes the handlebar tank is made by Acerbis, and I've seen these at Full Throttle... its only an extra 3l for a grand!... not good maths in my book!
Google Clarke tanks and you'll see the options. :thumleft:

Thank you Tommy!

I've been searching high & low for a bigger tank for mine, even did address IMS (never got a reply though), and your post above has led to me looking at a Clarke now - great!

Now, if anyone can tell me where I can buy the BBR suspension link plus the raised triples which both have been discontinued, so 2nd hand would seem to be the only way........

I see there is a company in Brazil that make a 15l tank for the CRF230. Does anyone know who imports these to South Africa? web address is: gilimoto.com    I can't read Portuguese, so don't know what to ask for/buy.

This would be the correct size for me... be able to do about 360 - 400 k's between refills :thumleft:
