A few km after the Riebeeck Kasteel turn-off the shit hit the fan..... I was about 50m behind her when she started snaking.
I estimate our speed to have been 70 - 75 km/h.
There was a (smallish) rut parralel to our direction of travel....... it definitely played a role.

Even on her first swing I new she wasn't going to make it, and it got worse from there. Quickly  :o
Scary thing is, on a surface that slippery you don't scrub off speed. As the magnitude of the oscillations grew, it seemed like she was going faster!!!

Excluding my parked bike, this is the sight that greeted me  :o

Sorry to hear about your off, hope you heal soon.

From the photographs it looks to me like you got slightly cross-rutted, which caused the initiation of the tank slapper; you would have been extremely lucky to have managed a come back from that.

Sterkte M.

So is the mud to blame for this? What causes this situation?

With the mud about it is difficult to see the ruts, and of course there is less friction when you do start to slide.

Sterkte M.

So is the mud to blame for this? What causes this situation?

Generally, it is caused by water and (fine) sand.

Ai tog! Sterkte met die herstel.

+1 ligaments do not grow back, they are reconstructed by good surgeons - my advice, go see one.

I know they can happen very quickly - too quickly in most cases.

Have you managed to sleep the whole night through yet without accidentally rolling onto that shoulder?
