BIKER FRIENDLY?????

sorry, i didnt mean to come across as agro - but i honestly started fearing for my and my girlfriends safety everytime we took the quads out for a ride, and dont like it when i am made out to be an uncontrollable villain.
even when i wanted to trade them in on a 950 i got comments like: "i dont know why you bought a quad in the 1st place because quads are dicks" ,and "i hate quads because...." ,or "i nearly got killed by a quad" etc.

my point is, if a quad shoots past you and sprays you with stones, dont say it was a quadbiker who wronged you, because it wasnt. it was an inconsiderate guy on a bike. the same goes when a black man shoots you in your drive way. it was really a disturbed individual, colour had nothing to do with it.

i think quadbikers dont realise how much dust and stones get picked up by those wide wheels. i for one only realised this after i sold it for the 950. i was riding on dirt for the 1st time and looked back to see almost no dust at all, only then did i realise just how much dust quads generate.

lastly, perhaps quads attract more idiots because of the perception that it is easier to ride offroad. they soon learn though that it DOES take skill to ride these things and thats when they make fools out of the rest of us through poor conduct and lack of controll.

I lurked on the QuadSA forum for a while to see what these folk were like.
I must say, 95% of the people there are very hard on hooligan quadbikers.
They even have a huge section on fools who ride without ATGATT and are not afraid to chastise riders who misbehave.

just thought I'd mention it

I don't have a quad, don't want a quad, can't stay upright on two wheels. What to do...?

No need to apologise. The one draw back of forum correspondence is that it is very difficult to bring "meaning, voice tone and emotion" into the discussion. Didn't experience it as agro.

They are a lot easier to ride offroad, by a thousand miles.
Basic plodding along, low barrier to entry.

Where skill comes in is to ride them fast.
