WC -Oasis The Long Way Round !
« on: July 22, 2012, 07:58:17 pm »
We met up at Richwood garage at 08h00 and there was a short down pour and left at 08h30.
Andy660  , Erick T and 2 strokeDan.

We headed for Picketberg in the cold , and fortunately  no rain.We stopped at Picketberg for a quick spur breakfast and to defrost our hands , then on to Citrusdal.

Got a call from Rovrat , who had come from Hermanus through Portaville in a bid to catch up with us , but with his usual flare fore riding , had over shot his mark and ended up at Niewoudspass while we werent even out of Picketberg yet.

The dirt road from Citusdal was wet , slippery and was a mass of water filled potholes.
Neiwoudspass was an absolute pleasure , no dust and lekker grip on the damp hard surface. The are had some seriuos rain the past two days and most of the veld was still very wet and the water hadn`t had time to drain yet.

Even though we picked up our pace , there was no ways we were goimg to catch him up as there were side ways marks around all the corners , "Obviously" someone was having fun ahead of us.

The cederberg is looking very green and there was some purple flowers already coming out from the fynbos already.
We stopped and took a few pics here and there.

On the way up to Uitkuik pass

Once we got to the Kromriver turn off , I noticed this message on the ground,
ANDY with an arrow to the right , pointing to the Kromriver road.
I took this pic of the detour , but  decided to give Kromriver detour a miss today.

But after you turned Right at the Maatjies River intersection  , about 2km down the road , is that cement water drift  and there was NigelX , waving us down so we didnt try to cross the drift.
We went back to kromriver and took the twee spoor which got us past the small wet obstacle.
Thank NigelX , good to meet you again!

This one ! Oh ,thats what all the Graffiti was about in the road that Rovrat had left there ! lol
The river was washing very fast in the middle , when we got there there was a Kia sportage making a u turn.

Yep, Andy I was having a great time riding through the Cederberg enjoying the views.  The road was wet so the back wheel came out by it self around the corners, I promise. Wasn't me.  ;D :ricky:

It was a great day catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones.

Will be there for the next one.  :thumleft:

PS: I cant see any pictures. Just me?  :-\

I've also gone blind, cannot see the pictures. Fortunately my word-reading eyesight is unaffected.
Great day, bit cold but almost perfect. Damp roads make for almost no dust, except a certain 1150GS that churns up the dust from 2 inches under :peepwall: :imaposer:

It was great to bump into you guys at the swollen river. This made an interesting end
to my Namibian return trip.

Must say the six hundreds went at a good pace back into Ceres!
Quench my thirst with gasoline.
So Gimme Fuel,
Gimme Fire,
Gimme that which I desire
