Well, I was not at all in the market for another bike, in fact I was collecting info for my brother who wanted a GS Dakar.
Thursday evening late I saw an ad for a 2001 Black and White 650GS Dakar, with 15880km for £2000 (R30.000)
I went to look this morning and went to fetch the money and by 12.00 I was the proud owner of a 650Dakkie on the trailer behind my car.
The bike is in what could be described as spotless condition.
Came with low and high seats, Datatool Alarm and immobiliser, ScottOiler, Heated grips, a nice steel carrier, handprotectors, Touratec Tankbag, and a centrestand. The last service also saw it get a new radiator, and the service cost £560.
If you add the cost of the extras, it comes to around £1000 plus that service. So really a bargainus bargain I think.
Will post a few pics in a bit.
My brother went to see some bikes today, and ended up putting a deposit on a 2001 model 1150GS with Topbox and 32k km, for R75k.
I am chuffed that he has gone the used 1150 route rather than a 650, which could prove frustrating if he and his girlfriend were to tour on it, as they are 200kg together, without lugauge.
Note sad ex-owner.
Note distance covered in KM's, in miles that is less than 10k miles.
