In Holland they serve horse meat. Apparently top stuff. Especially breeded for it.

I Switzerland and France too. Never tried it though... I could never eat anything that is kept as a pet. Would you eat cats or dogs? Seems the same sort of situation to me...

I've been to the Netherlands and Germany... and had horse meat... much like steak, just a slightly different taste... almost sweet meat.

Dog/Cat... don't know, but travelling a lot and being treated by foreigners to their special delicacies, I've eaten many weird things... maybe cats and dogs too without knowing it. I know about rats, sea horses, jellyfish, 1000year old egg (they once used these on Fear Factor - not really that old, but still a bit gross... duck eggs matured from raw for about 3 months to the point where it is black and slimy and jellyish).

Being first generation SA in the family from Holland, I had my fair share of konyn. (Bunny).

Also a delicacy. Baked konyn kop.

Reminds me of the skaapkop we used to have in Suidwes... Namibia. I still think it was the best.
