Trip to Northern Cape to support an orphanage
« on: August 06, 2012, 11:35:58 am »
So this coming Thursday a few of us hit the road from the West Rand, through Kimberly and Upington to pay a visit to an orphanage in Keimoes.  They receive no government grant and it is through the generosity of the biking community that some of us have chosen to go by car/bakkie to pull the trailers full of food, clothing, stationary, toiletries.  Christmas is arriving early for these kids.

A bit about the orphanage.  They look after kids from babies to late teens - it's got to the stage that they're having to turn people away because of a lack of space/facilities/money/food/etc.  These kids have absolutely nothing (my mate says "hulle is verby-arm").  Last year their collective wish was to get their own toothbrush for Christmas.....can you imagine what they're going to say when we get there on Friday afternoon!! ;D ;D ;D  I can't wait.

Then we take the bikes into the desert for a few days next week...........bring it on!  :ricky:
