It was on the day after the snow in Johannesburg,  that we all left for the bash in Baberton.  :mwink:

Cave Girl, Misty, Firecracker, Sonneblom and little Zina (our mascot I think), and Pebbles, Trailered to Belfast, and I rode the cold and met them there….

We made good time and by eleven they had already arrived and offloaded, The bakkie and the trailer became our backup ride.

We took a wonderfull road off the Balfast/Dullstroom road….it was dirt, it was curvy, it was in places technical, and it was simply wonderful to ride in the grasslands of the high plateaus….eventually it exited onto the Machadadorp road, and we connected with the next dirt(also amazing through the plantations ) that took us onto the Clivia Pass….a breathtaking very curvaceous road, tarred but with amazing views. (cave girl had gotten all the ID and registration document ready for permission to do this – Thanks Sharon…it was so worthwhile)

A quick flash past Kaapse Hoop took us along on tar to Nelspruit, where Photographers of the Newspaper were waiting: Tallies and Coyote also met us there, and where buffs were also handed out….Thanks Rieks…..was a great idea…

After filling up with Sletsappies, Rieks and ChrissieB took us to the Baberton Airfield…our barracks for the weekend….It was amazing, an open kitchen, a huge firepit…and very comfy accommodation

We had a cleaning lady called Immaculate- and she was….a Pig called Varkus, and a very friendly cat….

A new Lady Dog also joined us there….Michelle aka Bitch….she was anything but that….but a courageous little rider, who left us on day two…well done Michelle…you did brilliantly well considering you hardly ever ride dirt with that huge KTM of yours….

We feasted at a sit down dinner….(The girls all pitched in and made dinner- with Lisa joining us as she is a caterer and also advised Rieks on the shopping in advance – what a fab lady she was !!! next time she will be on her own bike!- she was Rieks’ pillion for the weekend, until her husband stole her away!)

The end of day one……all went of sucessfully, and we are well set for a weekend of riding…

Misty will post her usual fantastic photo collages....as well as all the other lassies who took pics.....
