My bike still at Mike Hopkins in Cape Town to sort out the idling problem :-[. They do not know how to fix it, it has been three days now. They tell me that they have had a few in for the same problem...
On ADVRider there have been some comments icw dirt "jamming"the Stepper motor for the throttle. there is a linkage that is under the tank that needs to be cleaned and lightly greased.
Do a bit of a search on it, that may solve it.
by the way, done just over 20 000km and had no issues at all.
Current:
Triumph Tiger 800XC, Triumph Scrambler, Yamaha XT 500 X 2, Yamaha XT550, Yamaha XT600, Kawasaki KLR 650, KTM 50
Past:
Triumph Tiger 855 (sold), Triumph Speed Triple 955 (sold), Triumph Speed Triple 1050 (sold),Yamaha IT 490 (SOLD) Triumph Tiger 1050 (sold), Honda XR200 (killed), Honda XR 500 (killed), XT600 (killed)

Dont replace it  >:D
Drill holes in the number late and fix it to the plastic. Your way of giving it to the MAN!!!

Same here the right top plastic is melted a long time ago. :thumleft:

The standard windshield is not so good, can you experienced Tiger riders tell me what, aftermarket windshields are available and work better, higher and wider.

SmokenFly has a touring screen and TTMAN a Madstad, how tall are you? I am a short shite and the screen is ok for me.

PM the blokes above and ask their opinions.
How do you find the rest of the bike/

Im loving my Tiger aswell.  Its really a good all rounder, really very good on the tar, quite a stormer actually with enough grunt to give some sport bikes a real scare.  Offroad, well thats another story.  I find the suspension way too soft and obviously the stock tyres way too slippery for anything serious - this has seen me wipe a couple of times, but with the SW Motech crash bars and Acerbis handguards i have on this bike is amazingly good at shrugging off falls without any evidence!

All in all a very lekker ride!

Shite, I am 1.72 or 5'7" and at 150 am still comfortable. You should get hold of TTMAN and SmokenFly

Have you adjusted the rear damper for offroad or are you riding it a the factory setting which they say is 24 clicks out from closed and did you drop your tyre pressure

We need to plan another EPIC breakfast no less than 500km again.
Keep the calander open for 29September. Or a sleep over?
Want to go North or North West this time?

Hi Murdoch, no i havent played around with the settings ill be honest.  Most of my offroad has been quick unplanned breakaways into the bundu.  But without decent tyres i doubt i will play more :)

I have just got my bike back from the dealer and has fixed the idleling problem. I asked what the fault was and was told that he did this and he did that and could not tell me what the exact problem was. But I did get charged for a new air filter and the bike has only done 4000 km's. I saw the old one and was not that dirty.  But I am back on the road now!!!
I envy every man that has not been to Africa, for he has so much to look forward too.

I believe everyone is dumpstruck about the idling. Could be a batch issue.
I had it once for 2 days and gone.
Some say its the stepper motor beeing dirty.
Some say the start up program isnt done. When you switch it on and off to quickly.
Some say WTF??
Some say it a mapping thing.
