Hi Guys & Gals,   :salute:

Wynand from R/Bay. VoĆ?Ā«lvry member in the last outpost of the British Empire. Been riding a Moto Guzzi for the past 12 odd years and recently bought myself a Caponord. Ja okay, I like to be different............ :D

There are lots of places for riding around here, but for some strange reason no-one is interrested in taking their DS bike offroad.  :? I'm extremely frustrated because, I want to ride, but it is not safe to go it alone.
How the hell do you get experience if you can't get off the tar? and
Why do people by DS bikes if they're not going to take them off road?

Welcome man!

It is irritating that a lot of DS bike owners got thier bikes to try buy a "lifestyle" and friends.
We should make a trip down to RB sometime, and do a group ride!

Howzit, Wynand. Welcome.

You will maar have to bite the bullet and do a couple of runs on your own. Then you look for the muddy sections and make sure it splashes all over your bike and clothes. Once the locals see you like that, not to mention the perma-grin, they'll take to the dirt in no time.  :D

Why people would buy DS bikes and not do dirt, I don't know. In fact, I don't know why one would buy anything other than a DS bike.  :!:
Live and let live.

I guess they buy them for the same reason most people buy 4X4's. To be able to say they have one.

Colleague of mine told me the other day that he will definitely not take his GS off-road  DUH!!!. Bike is used for commuting to work and back only. What a waste of machinery!

Hi Wynand and welcome! I almost bought a Capo myself. Still think it's the best looking of the giant traillies. Reason why I did not go through with it is because I'm too tall - my legs don't fit under the cut-outs in the tank. I was hugely disappointed. Still am.

Welcome to the MadHouse Cane Rat, a weekend in R/Bay sounds like a good idea, I've done some of the area around Goedetrou Dam, but only by car while on my way to service the lift in the dam, but the area looks like it needs more exploring by bike, get some info on your area, we might pop down.
And yes, some of us BMW types DO get our bikes dirty!!! :D  :D
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!
