So the time came for me to replace a couple of bearings on my bike. My steering head bearings have been notchy for some time now and I have just been living with it. On Tuesday a bike shop accidentally crushed the seal on my front wheel while balancing it, so after my good friend Dennis offered to help replace the steering head bearings I decided to get all the bearings and seals required.

Replaced wheel bearings quickly on Thursday evening, man I love a heat gun. Put the bearings in freezer for 15 min and heated the hub, and the bearings literally dropped into place. No hammering required.

We spent Saturday morning fixing the head bearings

Parts required

Front Wheel:
2 x 6204-2RS    = R130
1 X 30 x 47 x 7 = R24
1 X 25 x 47 x 7 = R30

Steering Head Bearings

2 x 320/28XJ = R400
Top + Bottom Covers from BMW = R 81

Total cost of repairs: R665 + Some Boeries, Beer and snacks

All in all a very fun productive Saturday
