Namibia - is bike insurance needed?

I am doing a tour in Namibia next month. Looks like I need to take my bikes registration document with me and pay a road tax of N$140 when I enter. Some posts mention having to have insurance for the bike, is this necessary?

Insurance not necessary for Nam. Still a good idea though.

90% of SA's insurers cover for the bordering countries. Ask your broker.

Check with your insurance. Always better to be safe. Our insurance will cover your damaged bike and fixed it, but will only collect the bike on the SA borderside and not in Namibia
