My DR finally decided to break something. I noticed that the speedometer is dead. The speedometer cable is broken off near the bottom (inside cable).
Is it worthwhile having a new inner made up, or is it better buying a new complete cable unit?
What does it cost more or less?
Any cons to replacing just the inner?
I never serviced my speedo cable, is it something I should have done, re-greasing the cable from time to time? I lube my clutch and choke cable, but did nothing with this one. Looking at the break I think corrosion played a role in the breakage.
I guess when I refit a new one I should make sure that the speedo unit turns freely?
Anybody with an unused one who fitted a Vapor ?
