How's your bike coming LS? When will you get the new 1200 Adv? What colour? ABS or not?

ag bla-bla

I just got off the phone with the dealer. We exchanged some ugly words and I'm still angry.

Will discuss it with you later. At the moment I feel like cancelling my order...

Not good. Not good at all.

I'm just around the corner from them, in case you want to send a hand-delivered bitch-slap.

I spoke to the dealer again... they are trying their best, I must say. I feel a little bad for directing my anger at them.

i know who it is
my keen sense of deduction
you definately are far more patient than i am
maybe it will be well rewarded
as far as i know a blind guy could have stripped a bike in germany an sent the parts to you snail mail and done this twice in two months
buut its also not just your dealer having these kind of problems
sooo maybe the motherland is in dissarray (sp)
and we just think the dealers are bullshting

Pop in there and hand out a series of SRFSS's (Super Running Fcuk Slap Sideways) You are far more patient than me, and given that you are also Taurean I am suprised that they have not given you a full time loaner. If you have their bike they are more keen to give yours back sooner.
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!

So why did you decide to go without ABS on the new ADV??

Two reasons:
The price difference of 10K and I really don't like the whirrrrrr of the servo

I am a great fan of ABS and don't mind having it on my bike but I feel that I don't need it (I reckon I know how to modulate brakes manually on wet roads). I'd also like to simplify an already complex bike as much as I can.

My reasons may not be entirely logical but show me the logic behind a motorcycle anyway

One thing I disagree with you, there is no way in hell that you can pulse brakes in an emergency situation, that is why they invented ABS in the first place, it is much faster than any human can react.
Are you 100% sure the bike you get without ABS will not have servo assist brakes? You get servo assits whether you like it or not, so the twheeeet is gonna stay.

I don't understand why people are hating me so much, just because I want a beemer without ABS :? Maybe LITO can explain it to me

michnus, you are right that I cannot modulate as fast or as effectively as ABS. But I can modulate fast enough not to lock up the wheel. I can also pick an escape route. That's good enough for me (and for 10 million other bikers on regular brakes)
I am 100% sure the non-ABS will not have a servo. I heard it from BMW's tech department, from American/Canadian owners on AdvRider.com, and from my dealer.
The whole reason I don't want ABS is because I hate the servo whine. I hate it so much you won't believe it! I don't use my brakes when I'm around people because it embarrasses me - how wierd is that? (I have issues  )

Also, after that falling-into-the-river debacle (Karoo trip), the battery was so tortured that the servo assisted ABS failed while I was riding the bike. At first the brakes worked fine, just a little stiff. Soon the braking became worse and the lever felt like it was attached to a 60kg weight. Coming to a stop took much planning and I had to start applying brakes about 500m from a stop sign. Never again do I want to suffer through servo failure. It is MUCH worse than people will have you believe!

Love ABS, Hate servo-assist!

No, we're just hating you because you're getting a 1200 adv before we are.

Seems a quite reasonable reason to hate you personally!

Is it yours they are going to let us test ride at AMID?

Not so fast Hein... it's not the new baby...it's the teenager.
the new baby will only arrive end of July/early August...after I have sold the teenager

my home is a wreck (still wifeless) so I will rather meet you for a beer if you are up to it
