Mid week spin
« on: September 12, 2012, 03:39:44 pm »
Went hiking in Zuurberg today. Rest of the group went in bakkies, but it's a beautiful day and I couldn't pass up the chance to use the bike. Have to say though that the Zuurberg road is not my favourite type of dirt road. Smooth and hard, but covered in small gravel, it's like riding on a bed of ball bearings. Give me ruts and puddles within reason any day. Something for my tyres to bite on.
Coming home down Zuurberg Pass the rear brake ran out of hydraulics. Bit of a mystery 'cos the fluid is still full and no sign of leakage. Still, gotta sort it out now before Sunday's Drazilville ride.

99.999% chance that your rear brake pipe is done.

It doesnt leak, but just put your bike on its stand and press the brake pedal with your hand while keeping an eye on the hydraulic pipe.
Watch it swell up every time you press the lever.

Take it off and have one made up by a hydraulics shop.

Easy peasy. :thumleft:

Did you hike past the elephant sanctuary? I have heard there is a lekker trail in that area.
Look for a shooting star and see Lynda's trail and remember all the great places you shared with her,she will never forget what she shared with you and will show you that in every starry night .

Brakes sorted thanks, Just skinny pads, but I'll check the pipe just the same.

Didn't see any hefferlumps, but the rest of the group drove through the park after hiking, maybe they were lucky but I needed to get home.
