Yes Chris, you are correct.
I still have the last of the last of the 5W50 Fuchs oil but that will run out soon.
The 15W50 is the oil now with the red colour in it and is recommended as I was given a can and did a 10000 Km test with it.
It is recommended to all that phone or pop in by me as the right one to use for the air cooled motor as it is a great oil and also fully synthetic as was the 5W50 oil.

But that is just my decision and you do what you consider right for your bike or been recommended by your bike mechanic.

A nice warm day and a ride out to Maitlands beach brings the trip to 257000 Km for this month.
Possibly a couple more km up before the end of the year.

Tomorrow morning we roll out of town to the greater Karoo.
Looking at a night over at Abrahamskraal guest house for one night.
Then next day onto Koedoeskloof for old years eve and further on home on new years day.
Looking at a chill ride with stops for coffee and braai the first night.
Topped the engine oil up with half a liter and otherwise all in order.

Hope you all see the new year in with plans for the year to ride to some less known places.
Enjoy and see you out there on the road.

Just fitted a second Mitas E07 170x60x17 tyre to the back of the bike.
My normal is 150x50x17
Shall see how it handles.
It fits perfectly onto the rim and fits perfectly into the wheel well area.

Today was test day with the larger Mitas on the back.
Took it through the locaul Van Stadens Pass for a spin to J Bay.
Most impressed with the easy cornering and the stable feel from the back tyre.
Looking forward to a longer trip and still to see what mileage is left in the tyre

Next week we ride for a night or two over depending on weather and just what we feel like doing.
There is some accommodation in the Wilderness that overlooks the sea.
Be a good test run for the back tyre and further fun out on the bike.

Be careful out there and enjoy this time of the year.
We have the best weather now for 3 months.

The ride was done & what good weather it was with a blast of the SE wind catching us on the way home .
Both bikes went well as his 1200 was serviced the Friday with some good oils.
This caused him to get around 20 Km/lt from last measured 18 Km/lt
Another 200 km at end of my trip and my bike service is also due

The trip meter showed up 259000 Km just outside Humansdorp.
The Mitas tyre that I fitted performed well on all the surfaces of dirt and wet tar.
Montagu Pass outside George was raining and the curvy road up the pass the tyre was rock solid on the road with not the slightest slipping.

Swartberg Pass has been graded and easy ride on the bike but also told by the farmer they has 60mm rain there.
Over the top and the dirt road is also good.

Completed the 260000 Km service with engine, gearbox and FD oil replaced with the good stuff.
Replaced the front tyre with a Karoo 3 and in the process found a glitch with the pads worn unevenly on the right side.
Pulled the pin that holds the pads in place and found a deep indentation where the pads had worn it away.
This normally happens on the back pin so surprised it was now also happening on the front pin.
Replaced the right with new pads and restored the locating pin to new. Serviced the left pin and pads still good for plenty Km.
Tomorrow to do static balancing of the front tyre and it will be good to go for the next ride this coming weekend.
Will also check and reset the electronic service indication meter and clear any faults to be found.
Ride safe and enjoy it out there on the bike.

Early out this morning and did static balance on front wheel.
Took a few grams and seem settle now.
Gave the bike its 2 yearly wash and check.
Found the bugs plastered across the front oil cooler.
Nothing that a soak with water and then blast them away with the high pressue cleaner.

Just a few observations on my bike till date.
It still has its original clutch kit in since new.
104 liters of oil replaced in the engine.Say about R 9 800.00 for oil
About 54 front and back tyres replaced to date
About 14444 liter of fuel consumed to date. Say about R 213 800.00 for fuel
Motor never been opened except for valve clearance every 50000 Km
3 x sets of spark plugs so far.
And so it goes on etc, etc

This weekend we ride again for a camping trip night over on Saturday
Weather is great and plenty of pools to go swim in with standard braai as per usual.
