Beautiful Boomslang caught in our garden yesterday. Removed him as the dogs were harassing him :o

Buurman, ek wou regtig na die Lockdown vir jou kom kuier om 'n Plant op te tel maar jy het ons Vriendskap ontydig opgefok met die Slang Besigheid, ons sal moet Praat Ouboet.

Hi Ri

All of those snakes were caught right here in our garden or in places not more than 5 km from our place.
Lots of boomslangs because we have loads of trees and lots of birds nests.
Of course it is summer and temperatures are high so snakes come out

I do not like snakes at all. Not really scared of them but definately carefull. They are ugly and disgusting creatures to me. If I encounter one in my living space I
will  kill it. Out in the bush I try not to bother them.

Haha yeah well lots of people are scared shitless of snakes. It is understandable as we have been indoctrinated form very young age that snakes are evil.
I am also quite wary of them but hate to see people killing them. I rather go and catch and release the snakes.

I used to be scared shitless, am now just scared  ;D

I had a black mamba touch my hands once, and it didn't bite me..long story..

Also don't like snakes being killed for the sake of killing, something I can't seem to pass on to  the workers, any snake they come across gets killed immediately..

Yes, very pretty.

I get a lot of different snakes here in Florida. The vast majority are completely harmless, with the exception of the rattlesnakes, water moccasins, and coral snakes.

Saturday while doing the weed eating I startled a Florida Ringneck, caught it in my hands and showed Mrs Zog, then released it safely in the front garden (where Maggie won't kill it). We also have a pretty big Black Racer living in the front yard. Last weekend it ventured into the back yard and gave Sammy a very big fright. I managed to get it cornered (they are VERY fast) and caught it and dumped it over the fence before Maggie got hold of it. But I guess that one day soon it will come back when I am at work and then Maggie will sort it out...  :(

Young enough to know I can, old enough to know I shouldn't, stupid enough to do it anyway.

Here's another one that not many of you will have seen. It's the Australian red bellied black snake. When we went for a walk in the Conway National Park forest on Saturday we came across a few of them but they had slithered off as soon as we approached them but this one which was lying across the path quite close to the car park was going nowhere. I'm not sure if it was playing dead or actually was dead but we cautiously tip-toed past it. The board at the entrance gives small succour to it's venomous properties. Makes me think of my son's definition of the harmless Australian spider - it will swell around the bite, you will be in pain for months and your arm may drop off but you will not die. The picture is whompoo creek.
