Johan Marais is one of the foremost authorities on venomous snakes in Southern Africa. He is passionate about his work, and regularly travels across the continent to educate people about  these misunderstood reptiles, and to provide guidance on the best way to react to venomous snakebites. He does field research on snakes, reptiles and amphibians and has written 11 books  on these creatures. Johan is also involved in reptile conservation. In case you are wondering, he will bring some of his snakes to the talk to give us a chance to recognise these creatures in the wild
Even on days when you don't have the time or the energy, you are still the centre of your pet's world!

Jare se jag in Thaba/Dwaalboom (lees "mamba en puffy fkn fabriek") en my tolerance vir die goed is maar dun en min.

Dit is die Cape Robin of Gewone Jan Frederik. Hulle HAAT boomslange!!! Hulle jaag hulle uit die boom uit en val dan die slang aanhoudend aan.  

Is al hoe ons weet wanneer hier slange om die huis is.

Interesant, ons het n soortgelyke voel in ons tuin, maar donker swart met die brons of bruin aan die onderkant, kan dit glad nie op Sasol birds kry nie.

Raai nou maar net, maar is dit nie miskien 'n boubou shrike. Die wyfie het meer bruin onder op haar bors en die mannetjie wit met bruin.
