Edgy cool photo!
So at the talk we had on Tuesday there were a lot of "myths" busted - some even suprised me.
Interesting that you kill puffies - although they are our fastest striking snake they are pretty lazy so unless stood on will not attack you. The guy had one with him for us to see - about 1m long but it just lay at his feet totally uninterested in us - with a bit of engouragement he got it to move back into its tool tube house - sorry didn't take any photo's but I was supprised just how docile it was.
Thats the problem esp with kids around, they just lie anywhere and easily stepped on!

Op die plaas en plot het ek een ding geleer.  As hy op die erf of NABY die huis of diere kom gebruik jy iets wat groot/baie lood gooi.

In my area we have a huge number of snakes, In the past year in Kos I've come face to face with more snakes than in my previous 35 years on earth combined.
I have killed a few Cape Cobras in my yard, I have driven over snakes numerous times and have seen them next to the road....just the other day I rode over a big cobra and shat my pants. I actually thaught I killed it or atleast maimed it but when I turned back to have a look it had a dent halfway along its body but otherwise appeared to be just fine and vol kak. Last week my beloved Staffie got tagged by a Puffy in the veld infront of our house and it looks like she will pull through but hell those puffy's leave a nasty wound  :o. My point of view is that if it's in my yard I'll do my best to kill it,or get someone to do it.....but in the bush I leave them alone.
The last geelslang I terminated haunted me for 3-4 nights....jeezus those things scare the shit out of me!!!!

Some I got in Bots a few years ago.

Be careful of the words you say.
And keep them soft and sweet.
For you never know from day to day.
Which ones you'll have to eat.

Nice pic's Stofstreep
Kilroy - the red lipped herald is a back-fanged snake with a mild venom that does not result in significant medical symptoms for humans (mild headace) they are effectively harmless to humans - but be carefull if you get multipal bites in a short space of time you WILL feel the effect!. They bite readily when first captured, but soon settle.

Dammit Anthony escaped again  ???

Often wish I could let mine out for a run but dogs and cats would dissappear :-) and I would probably be to scared to re-capture him  :)

Where did you see it?

I speak under correction but this could be the "short snouted grass snake" which are mildly venomous. Feed on other snakes , birds rodents and lizards. They are diurnal , active during the day .
ROUTE DIFFICULTY:1 = tar
2 = good gravel /pillion friendly
3 = interspersed with sand, mud, sand , bush / not pillion friendly
4 = lots of sand, technical riding
5 = expert only (we are not worthy, still to meet one)
