Found this very evasive one in my garden a few times since Thursday last week.
Been told it's a Karoo sand snake. All I know is that it's lightning fast.

Yes baie mooi,
I think it was lying curled up with its head over the body to keep it's mouth above water.  That way it could survive in the water for longer

Dit is 'n goeie waarneming, mens kan sien sy liggaam is ook opgeblaas.

Made quite a splash :biggrin:

I was very saddened to see a dead Cape Cobra lying in the middle of the last turn down Theekloof Pass last Sunday, so this is heartening.

Daar was elke jaar buite Eersterivier (Sanddrift Conservation Center as ek reg onthou) 'n slanghanteringskursus, maar ek het lanklaas 'n brief daarvoor ontvang. Aangebied deur Dr Phipps dink ek. Oefen op molslange, Kaapse kobra en Pofadders met die vangstok.

Crossing a section of tar that is seldom/never used, and it wasn't stressed or aggro..

It is a juvenile about 1 meter long.

Where do you meet all these beautiful snakes?!!! I'm always on the lookout, but they elude me. There are puffies galore at the farm in the Northern Cape - until I arrive :-[

That juvenile Cobra is a very striking colour, I'm amazed people would confuse a mole snake for one!
