Run in with Metro this morning

So I’m riding the GS to work this morning. Pass a bunch of Metro cops in Old Vereeniging road, next thing I see all 4 of them jump in a marked car and chase me up the road. They all jump out and demand to know why I am standing (I felt like saying I ride a GS boet its comes standard with the package). So these 4 guys surround me telling me I mustn’t stand up when riding a scooter. I asked the guy to show me the act that states I can’t stand up when riding a bike. They all start looking at each other shaking their heads at me speaking stupid Zulu. The one guy starts getting really aggressive and starts leaning into me. I told him to give me the fine and I’ll see him in court, they carried on telling me I must sit when I ride a scooter, after about 5 minutes I just pulled off and went to work. They didn’t follow me (to fat to get in the car quick enough).

Oh and just to put these cops in the picture I was actually standing becuase I had cramp in my hip - tossers!! But you cant tell these racist corrput things anything becuase they just riding around looking for sh*t too stir. Made me mal.

So my question for today: Is there a law that states you can’t stand up when riding a motorcycle.

If there is not, there should be. Standing up takes away a lot of control over a motorcycle. Try an emergency stop while standing :imaposer:, which in traffic could be very needed.

Yes it is illegal to stand and ride op public roads, been discussed to death on WDs before.

It actually is illegal to stand when riding on tar. You are essentially not in control of the bike, as the law stands.

I do lots of emergency stops, when riding offroad, while standing, because I missed the route markers. :pot:
Thes you could do this without racism should rather look at taxis and skorrokorros.
@TSD were you racing in Cape Town in the early eighties ?

I'm an ex-traffis and I didn't know this! Must be a new law brought in since I left that corrupt bunch of tossers back in '96...  ???

Could someone in the "know" please post a link to the relevant legislation? :deal:

To be honest I just have a serious problem with Metro. I find them to be repulsive, uncouth, fat, disgusting, corrupt, inept, useless.  :pot:

Anyway - my rant is over. Ek was verkeerd and wont do it again (maybe)  :lol8: :ricky: At least ill know next time just to say Sorry Officer - here is fifty, go feed your fat belly.

It is the very first regulation regarding motorcycles in the Road traffic act.

309. (1) No person shall drive a motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle on a public road unless his or her feet are resting on the front foot-rests suitable for the purpose and, where the design of such motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle makes it possible to do so, he or she is seated astride on the saddle of such motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle.
