No use arguing with these lot, especially when you are wrong - except when you can sweeten the deal.

Thanks Chicco :thumleft:

I like to think what the aim was of the legislator when compiling this act. To stop people from sitting on the tank, handlebars, riding with their feet up on the rear indicators (like I did as a laaitie on my 50 to try get extra speed  8) or handlebars... not necessarily to stop someone standing up on a DS bike to enable them to stretch a leg or see past the cage in front of them?

But someone said above that this has been discussed to death on the forum before, so I'll just pull my neck in now and go search for past threads on this subject  :mwink:

Young enough to know I can, old enough to know I shouldn't, stupid enough to do it anyway.

Mr Zog, the legislator might also have considered the problem that, you cannot use your rear view mirrors while standing :deal:.

Not this topic again, I really cant "stand" any more of it
My biggest worry in life, is that if I die before my Wife, she will sell my biking gear based on the prices that I told her I had paid for them.

" and, where the design of such motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle makes it possible to do so, he or she is seated astride on the saddle of such motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle."

Here is the crux, BMW does not always make it possible to be seated  :peepwall:
Cash, Gas or Ass............ no-one rides for free :-)

I did it because I can, I can because I want to and I want to because you said that I couldn't !!!!!!!

Next time sit down and wheelie past them with your feet on the pegs.  :ricky:

Sorry to stir, BUT that regulation is quit open and it does not state that you have to be seated "the whole time". Any attorneys here that will give us a better explanation ??????????
I do not agree to this and think you only read what you want in it, or actually that WE don not want to read. :pot:
You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

I think we should stand up for ourselves on this one
Write a letter saying we are not going to stand for this shit anymore
It seems like their standing orders are to intimidate bikers these days
Stand and Deliver !!!!!!!

It actually is illegal to stand when riding on tar. You are essentially not in control of the bike, as the law stands.
I often stand when riding and especially when lane splitting up Main Rd and were-ever  the "missing link" runs between standing cars: a. I`m not going 120km/h so stopping is not an issue and b. one can see far ahead. (Yes I am racist and no I don`t give a shiit what you think I simply like some people less than others).

This law was written by an old fossil when only thing on 2 wheels was an ox wagon on 2 jacks................

It is the very first regulation regarding motorcycles in the Road traffic act.

309. (1) No person shall drive a motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle on a public road unless his or her feet are resting on the front foot-rests suitable for the purpose and, where the design of such motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle makes it possible to do so, he or she is seated astride on the saddle of such motor cycle, motor tricycle or motor quadrucycle.

so there you go, its official. You can't ride your bike like a blerrie Meerkat (unless you are on a GS of course :-))

So what you are actually saying is the spare wheel of a old vespa should at all times touch the road? :ricky:
