Bring lots of water on Sunday. Leaving at 8:30 from Ace Sports - "there by Cipla."

Great morning out. By way of Roof training PeterA led on a GPS track I gave him. It's not that easy at first but he soon settled down and did a fine job. Thank you, Peter, Willie, Trevor, Raymond, Dean, DavidM and Mark.

Quite a few tortoises spotted today which is a pleasant surprise. Also a cobra near the dump under the powerlines.

Thank you Caron, Anton, Mark, Andrew, and DavidM. Altogether a fine ride. Came across a docile molesnake and several tortoises. Good to see the reptiles are hanging in there.
Dean came to tell us he'd be doing more serious riding now, but was grateful for the grounding. Sorry about this - we'll miss him.
Debrief was as festive as ever.
Thanks guys!

It was a gray and drizzly/rainy morning but 9 of us set out on a really nice ride. The sand was super firm after the rain and we all enjoyed the confidence this brought. Liza, Kevin, Andrew, Lucas, Caron, DavidM, Dylan and newbie, Patrick on a 690 made up a splendid crew. Lucas and Andrew left early for other commitments. Lance and Zanie spent a good part of the morning looking for us, before meeting us back at Ace, from where we all went on to Debrief where we were joined by Kim, still out of action with the knee injury, but cheerful and keen to get back on a bike. Big thank you to everyone.

Caron, MarkCRF300L, DewaldDR200, DavidM, Peter, Angus, Raymond, Graham, and Andrew (Squirrel) made a fine team to tackle about 35 kays of varied tracks. Again some stretching of capabilities was achieved. Caron crossed the railway 3 times without  incident. Dewald learned to trust the bike and go for it, managing an impressive climb or 2. Having said that my bike (BikeB) was sulking when hot and was difficult to start. Thanks for the help guys!

Met up with Dylan and friend but they were on their own mission.  Lots of bike tracks out there showing how popular the area has become!

Debrief was a covivial affair. Thank you, Andrew!

The morning was rounded off by meeting a beautiful young molesnake next to the railway line behind Acacia Park. I had a good long look at it. Really beautiful in its snakey way.

A great many of you have ridden with and enjoyed the company of Mark Bellingan (MarkB on this forum). He had a prang in a gyrocopter on Wednesday and is pretty banged up. His condition is serious but stable as he survives the third day since the accident. I'm sure you all join me in wishing him every success for a complete and speedy recovery.

You can join a WhatsApp group following his recovery.

Thank you Martin, Rob, Lucas, Andrew, William, DavidM, Raymond and Gerhard. Fine ride with fast bits, slow bits and silly bits. If you had half as much fun as me then you had a great time.

Met up with 3 guys (Kevin, not Giraffe, and 2 others) who were going to show us a track with an abandoned bicycle. We did a high speed loop without seeing a bicycle. We did come across 2 others who were doing a fantastic job opening up our tracks which are growing closed. Thanks guys!

Kim and Raf met us at the Barrel for the usual debrief, spiced up by the presence of a rather noisy Father Christmas. Some of the kids seemed to have enjoyed him.

I'll put up the track later.

Later: I see I did 39.2km Ace to Ace. The rest of the team did more, and DavidM must have covered 50km! This makes it one of our longer rides. Really tough on an inexperienced rider like Martin. No wonder he was so knackered!  And well done to him for coping.

Look forward to a warm Sunday. Grego has threatened to pitch, and I'm bringing PeterA (of recent Roof fame) along on one of my fire-breathing XLR250s.

8:30 Ace Sports.  All welcome - don't be lazy, don't be late.

And it was warm! But a brilliant ride. William, Raymond, DavidM, PeterA, PetervR, Andrew, Lucas, Mark, Greg and Herman made great company on a ride of all sorts!  From the playground near Cipla all the way up to the crater and back via the long tracks on the other side of MorningStar. The the Beer Bottle Track the wrong way and the easy way back for most of us. And Lindi and sprog joined us at debrief which raised the tone of the opccasion. In spite of the loud vocalist who tried to stop all conversation. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for taking the pic, Herman.

FWIW - Yesterday's ride was my 50th out in Parklands this year! Just over 1400km of sand tracks. I've lost count of how many different riders have joined me to sample the delights of the bush tracks, the little technical bits and those dreaded sandy whoops. I've so enjoyed getting away from the city, the traffic and the myriad of silly worries we all have, to simply ride and enjoy being out there. Thank you everyone.

The customary debrief at the Barrel is always so refreshing and convivial.

We won't break 1500km this Sunday (we'll still be 30km short), but that's not important.

Look forward to lots more. Have a fine Christmas and a New Year filled with excellent riding!

Thank you!!! Personally I owe you a huge debt of gratitude for selflessly accommodating losers aka noobs like myself. Of the 50 rides I think you said almost all were the usual Sunday jaunt, where fair enough you get pleasure, but believe a lot of that pleasure is derived in helping others. Thank you again

After a hot and windy Christmas Day, Boxing Day is going to be beautiful for recovering your equilibrium and shaking off the festive excesses with a little ride in the sand.

Leaving 8:30 from Ace Sports.

Thank you, Angus, Graham and DavidM for the best boxing day ride ever. We did quite a lot of off-piste blundering about. Thank you for your sense of humour and patience.
